My husband and I celebrated our tenth anniversary during the Seafood Festival (first weekend of October). Upon reading good reviews of the SDMotel, we booked a 2 night stay. We really enjoyed the motel, loved talking with the owners and getting their advice on the area.
We ate at Four Corners Diner which was delicious! We had a relaxing day at the Festival and tried some fantastic She Crab soup at Sharky's.

3 great reasons for staying at the motel;
*Checkout is at 11am instead of the usual 10am. We were able to have breakfast, a solid hour on the beach and back to the room for showers before checkout. Can't beat that!
*Internet Access - big plus for my husband and his work.
*No one bothers you every morning with knock-knock "housekeeping!", unless you ask. I could leave my valuables in the room and no-one was coming in to disturb them.

This is an older motel, no fancy bells and whistles, but the owners provide everything you need - equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, efficient a/c, all the towels you need and a relaxed attitude.

We just came home today from a four night stay at The Sand Dollar Motel in Atlantic Beach, NC. This is our second trip to this motel and we enjoyed it as much this year as we did last year. It is a very quiet and clean motel. The owners are terrific people and they make you feel at home. We definitely intend to stay there again next year.

“wonderful little place”

My husband and I enjoyed our visit at this wonderful little Inn. The owners and workers were very helpful. We have stayed at most all of the hotel,motel and inns in the area and will be returning to this Inn. Its not the Ritz but it is quiet, close to the beach and clean!!

For starters, this hotel is very reasonably priced. When I saw the price, I was expecting a grungy, dirty, old hotel. Instead I was met with a simple yet cute hotel and an extremely well-kept room with many small touches of home like the decorations in the bathroom and the chairs outdoors.

I highly recommend this hotel if you're looking for a clean and simple, yet inexpensive, room for the night.

Absolutely do NOT stay here. I made reservations about 10 days out from our vacation. Less than 24 hours later I had to cancel them. The owner said that we could not cancel since it was within 2 weeks of the reservations. I could understand if I called 1 or 2 days before our reservations to cancel, but I was calling 9 or 10 days before and less than 24 hours after the reservations were made.

The owner said at the very least he would charge us for 1 nights stay. Or course he chose to charge us the weekend rate.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!

This person and everyone that makes a reservations is told at the time that a reservations is made that we have a 2 week cancellation notice. I am sorry but I only have 11 rooms and I can not let my rooms set empty because someone did not show up or cancel. I am only open from March till Dec and count on the income from my rooms to make it all year. I am sorry that people can not understand this. If they do not like my cancellation notice I would suggest not making the reservations and just take a chance that I will have a room when they come down. Again we tell all people that make reservation that there is a two week cancellation notice. If this person will check other motels I am not the only one with two week notice. Again we enjoy our guest and try our very best do what we can to help them have a wonderful vacation.
Thanks to all my wonderful guest that help keep me in business. I am one of the small family motels left here in Atlantic Beach.
