This hotel has a good layout. The pool is on the beach and the beach is in front of the hotel. It has a restraunt and bar. We only ate breakfast there but it was a nice breakfast. The rooms are nicely furnished but not lavish. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was clean but the tub had some stains that made it look dirty.

My biggest problem was that even though I had reserved a non smoking room, when I checked in at 3:30 in the afternoon there were no non smoking rooms available.I am severely allergic to smoke and had to spend a very uncomfortable night with the balcony door wide open in order to breathe. The second day I hounded the desk clerk and sat on the beach until a non smoking room became available. That room was more pleasant except for the roar of the wind created by a gap in the door to the outside in the back. When I figured out that in order to get rid of the hurricane like sound I had to stuff a towel under the door I was much happier.

We had an opprotunity for a quick one night stay on Easter Weekend. Was able to book for one night only (most hotels had a two night min for the Easter Weekend). Girl on phone was very friendly and offered a queen sized bed - was upgraded to a king upon arrival. Staff at check in and check out were all friendly.
Room on 7th floor was very clean and stocked.

Obviously I was there "pre season" and expected the property to have "deep cleaned" over the winter - it appears they did. I was in the hotel business for over 20 years and am pretty picky when I inspect a room (my wife hates it... but I check under beds and behind furniture)!

We would definitly return. The pool water was warm and the hot tub was hot - but the air was too cold to attempt a dip!

We have been staying at the Clamdigger for 35 years. We love it. All the rooms are oceanfront. At night they turn on the spot light on the ocean and the sea gulls flock to the water (in winter mostly). It's not unusual to see the dolphins pass by about 8 a.m. and about 4 pm each day!

The food in the restaurant is excellent. The staff are friendly and always helpful. I highly recommend this hotel.

I rated this hotel above average as my husband and I really did have a very pleasant and comfortable stay at the Clam Digger Inn. This hotel is direct oceanfront and all the rooms have a balcony. What could be nicer than that! To make matters even nicer we had a full moon over the ocean to enjoy. This hotel is one of the original hotels in Atlantic Beach and is on the old side but I didn't find anything wrong with our room other than it wasn't "brand new". Everything worked and even though the mattresses were not pillow tops they gave us a very comfortable and restfull sleep. There is a restaurant in the hotel and we did have dinner there the night we stayed but it was a big disappointment and we can't recommend it.
