My husband and I stayed at the Ambassador this past weekend (4/20-4/22). Overall, the Ambassador is a nice hotel with little frills. Our room was $169/night, which seemed a bit expensive for the accomodations we received. The hotel room itself was pretty standard: a bed, a table and chair, a TV, a bathroom, a dresser and a closet. Nothing over-the-top or anything to be impressed with. We were surprised the TV was still one of the big, bulky ones; we thought they would have upgraded by now but it was no big deal. They offered us a free continental breakfast everymorning which was the standard cereal, fruit (not a large variety) and coffee - again, nothing to be impressed with.
The pillows were faux-down and extremely comfortable (I wish I could have taken one home with me!), as was the comforter. We always check for bedbugs before we unpack and our mattress and room were in the clear. The towels provided in the bathroom were soft enough, not luxury by any means, but they certainly weren't rough. The shower head pressure in the shower was lacking and I spent several extra minutes washing the soap off my body than I normally need to. There were no visible stains or cracks in the bathroom or bedroom and everything appeared neatly prepared.
My one complaint is this: The first night we were there we decided to get in the hot tub - huge mistake. The jets were set WAY too high and bubbled up over the side of the hot tub. I had to crouch on my knees while in the hot tub or my face was blasted with water - very uncomfortable and not relaxing at all. Additionally, the water got cold (and I mean indoor, unheated swimming pool cold) after twenty minutes of us being in there. There were no temperature controls or jet controls so we just got out. We left a comment card for the manager about this issue but haven't heard back.
Overall, I would say this is a decent place to stay if you are looking for something nicer than a Best Western or Sleep Inn to stay in overnight. It is a bit pricey, which can't really be justified but if all you need is a hotel and nothing more, I would recommend the Ambassador.
