Very good small hotel, not luxurious, but very comfortable, cozy and with good simple taste. You can feel at home away from home, that's the best a hotel can offer.
Friendly staff, not oversmiling but very informal and helpfull, the way we like it!
Room very clean, with great, overwhelming views! Do not hesitate, pay the extra ang get a sea view - it makes ALL the difference.
Nice breakfast with fresh tropical fruit, natural juices...

Would stay here again or pay a few more euros and stay at next door Casas Brancas, the same top location and a luxurious upgrade small hotel, we went to the spa there and is just great!

Stayed for 2 weeks, was a fantastic hotel to stay in.
Very clean, infact the staff didn't stop making the place look its best.
The staff were very helpful and friendly, couldn't do any more for you.
Buzios was wonderful and the hotel is only a short walk from the center.
I would recommend this place to anyone !! Will be returning ASAP.

Byblos is a lovely place, with a spectacular location. I would recommend it immediately, if you are willing to spend some extra just to stay in a glamourous place, as i was, and don´t regret it. If you are looking for cheap places in brasil, go somewhwre else, Buzios is a fashion place.
This hotel is not only in a place where you have a beautiful view of the sea and of Buzios but also in a very central location in Buzios itself. You have direct access to the Bardot Walkway (if i can translate it like that!) wich leads directly to restaurants, bars and shops.
Bedroom itself is quite basic, i asked for a seaview and it was quite expensive, about 250 dollars/night 3 years ago. But it had all the commodities and that gorgeous view.
Breakfasts were the best... you had lots of things including brasilian cakes, wich are really good... i ate a lot!!!
I never had dinner or lunch in Byblos as i found it more interesting to go walking through the streets and meeting new restaurants.
Just let you know that this hotel doesnt have direct access to any beach, if you want a hotel right on the beach go somewhere else.
Another hint, check for pousada casas brancas, its right next door Byblos, the same view but i guess casas brancas is more luxurious, check on it and compare.
Do the trip to Farol Island, its a very beautiful beach.

I stayed 4 nights at the Byblos in December 2006. I stayed in the Mar room too and the view is truly spectacular. Located right on the front, its only a few minutes walk into the main town (maybe 5 mins at the most) along the well lit waters edge. Friendly, attentive service. Huge sun terrace with a nice size pool that one can actually swim in. Excellent breakfast, with lots of delicious fresh fruit. Lots of steps, since its built down the hill-side (like all the others nearby) so it might not prove to be the best choice for those with small children - which is great for the rest of us! It proved to be the perfect place to chill out in after 6 weeks travelling round South America.
