The big selling point of this hotel is the location, a block away from a relatively underused beach and a block in the opposite direction from a good shopping street. It's a fair way from the ferries, though, and you should reckon on $60 for the taxi from the airport unless you want to explore the non-trivial challenge of finding a bus to get you there (neither the information desk or anyone else I asked there could tell me). Similarly, going to Rio from there is an expedition best accomplished by taxi, and I wouldn't really recommend it if that's where your business is.
The room is comfortable (and in my case had a spare bed) with a slightly spartan shower arrangement (fixed jet, just step under it). The staff varied in helpfulness and knowledge of English but were in general pretty good. The breakfast was average - Continental with local juices and some bits of bacon and scrambled egg. I didn't eat other meals in the hotel as there's a vast choice of inexpensive restaurants nearby. Curious waterpipe noise, presumably whenever anyone flushes their toilets, but as another poster has said, shut the bathroom door and you won't notice.
Overall perfectly adequate, and according to other conference delegates a cut above some other very downmarket Niteroi hotels.
