This hotel is nice but I was not as impressed as the other reviewers. I had a room for three nights during the week of May 14, 2007, on the 20th floor which included access to the lounge on the 22nd floor. The lounge was quite nice with snacks and refreshments throughout the day, and free wireless internet, but after all, you are paying an extra charge for this service.
My room was no better than average. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was large but the bathtub was chipped and discolored and not very appealing. My biggest complaint was the rip-off charges for international calls made from the room telephone -- 15 Reals (US $7.50) per minute! I was shocked to find a charge on my bill in excess of US $400 for less than one hour of phone calls. I travel quite extensively, generally stay in four or five star hotels, and have never encountered such an exhorbitant charge for phone calls. I guess I should accept most of the blame for not checking the rates in advance, but I do want to warn those who are considering this property to beware of these charges.
I agree with the other reviewers that the service at this hotel was quite good, but in my opinion it is no better than a three star hotel.
