I really liked this place and this it is a steal for what I paid ($110/night). Good service, nice spacious rooms, good location near Avenida Paulista and the surrounding area, close to the metro. Rooms do have the 70s feel but they are very clean, large (pretty big now that I think about it - had a big queen-sized bed with a separate lounge area with table and chair). Bathroom is nice and big - the only room I had in Brazil that had a bathtub.

Service was excellent and the lobby is very nice and spacious with the open-air effect and great views of the atrium from the elevator too.

Pool is nice - R30 to use it though! Breakfast very good - be aware that when you book on Expedia its not covered - was
like R25 (The best I had in Brazil though). Really liked this hotel -
very good value if you forgo the incidentals.

For the price I would definitely stay there again - near 4-star luxury near some of the best parts of Sao Paulo for a very reasonable price. If you want to spend 5x more for the Fasano or L'Hotel then go for it but this was a great deal.

We stayed at the Maskoud for just one night on our way to Santos to meet a cruiseship. it was marvelous, clean, quiet and we considered it a gem. The staff & specially the front dest manager was a charm, very helpful with local information. There was some negative things said on the Hotels.com website, but we experienced nothing but great service and a classic hotel.

Stayed there for one night and got a good impression. Apparently, this is an ex top hotel. Today, it is a bit run down but the rooms are still an excellent value. Extremely impressive lobby too.

Located in business district very close to Paulista Av. and walking distance to Tianon and Brigadiera metro. This is mainly business area, not very touristy but has few good restaurants serving delicious food. Metro is very good so getting to the centre (Se, Republica) will get you there in 10min. Rooms are nice, spacious, clean and very comfortable. Hotel is 21 storey building which is empty inside - interesting design hard to explain. This hotel is mainly directed towards business audience and backpackers are not frequent there.
Wireless internet is R$8per hour but dialed in from the room is free. When booking through expedia breakfast and gym are excluded - extra R$30 pp for each. At the corner is lovely coffee shop.

As backpackers we highly recommend it especially if you can get the good rate (our rate was the same as for other budget hotels so we decided to go for luxury at least for a few nigths).
