This hotel is a quiet well-located haven and a sensitive conversion of an elegant 18c town house and its outbuildings. There are several indoor and outdoor sitting areas and some interesting photographs and portraits. We thought our three days/two nights package in one of the suites was good value at c. INR 20k for two, including spa treatments, airport transfers, visits to the Golden Temple, the Wagah Border ceremony and other local sights, all unique experiences. Our suite was very large, noisily air-conditioned, furnished with antiques and poorly lit. The attached bathroom was adequate, if rather 'Indian'. The spa services were efficiently provided and the staff were friendly and helpful. The meals were rather average and the choice limited. It's difficult to rate this type of property by 'western' standards and those expecting standard spa luxury might be disappointed. Recommended to experienced Indian travellers. Tip - take two trips to the Golden Temple, including either the 'sunset' or 'sunrise' ceremonies.

By Indian standards I had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. My room was small, clean and very quiet. I found the room service good though I didn't like the set menus for dinner. The Ayuervedic massage was very relaxing after a long drive and it was nice to just be able to walk back upstairs to my room.

On the 2nd day of my stay 2 new puppies a labrador and a dashound arrived. They were cute and fun to play with though I don't know how it would go with guests on a long term basis as they grow.

I had my own driver from Delhi and it was no problem getting around to the Golden Temple or Wagga Border.

We had booked a Suite and upon checkin ,were given a very small room. When we expressed our displeasure and said that it did not in any way resemble a suite, they moved us to a bigger room in the first floor. The quality of everthing there leaves much to be desired. The bathrooms are old , the towels very old and stink and everything else in the bathroom is really old .The bedsheets have holes in them. This is definitely not worth the 128 $ we paid for the suite. It is no way a heritage hotel. As a hotel and its amenities, i would give it a 2 star. There were power cuts and we had to sleep in the heat and in dark as the generator wasnt working.
The only positive thing is they agreed to give us a room as we had a late check out but we didnt use it. But the fact that they let us is to be appreciated ( the hotel was empty anyways, so i dont know if it was a big deal ).
The service is good but that is to be expected as a norm in this industry. The food is good but you dont have a choice. The hotel has a predecided lunch / dinner so you dont get to choose.Anyways, there are lots of other good restaurants around.
This place is quiet , if thats what you are looking for.
I dont know the standards in Asr, but on a comparison with other 4 stars, or even 3 stars in del / mumbai , this doesnt come anywhere close.

The Svvasva was a little oasis of calm. The house is an eclectic mix of furniture and well cared for. We were greeting with towels and tea. Our room was clean and stylish.

The service was occasionally slow or forgetful, but a gentle reminder brought an apology and the required items. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel, and the food was really good.

The hotel organised reasonably priced air-conditioned vehicles to the airport and Wagah border ceremony. We also used the spa and two of us had the Sea Salt Lavender body scrub, which was absolutely fantastic.

I thoroughly recommend the hotel.

“A balm to our weary nerves”

After a month of hectic travelling all around India and after a particularly nasty stay at Amritsar's own Mohan International, we were weary when our travel agent booked us into Ranjit Svaasa. We had never heard of it and so were naturally highly suspicious.

We went there with every intention of inspecting the property before checking in or else going somewhere else. When we first drove in through their gates, after passing through a very tiny lane, we were surprised to see a quaint old house very tastefully done up.

On going inside the first thing that hit was the smell of incense every where. The hallways of the house and the reception where filled with family photographs and beautiful old furniture and we thought we may as well stay and give it a go.

Abhimanyu, one of the people who runs the place served us warm peach tea while we were getting checked in! Our room was well decorated, but not paticularly exceptional. However, it was very clean, and so was the bathroom.

What was exceptional though was the dining experience! In all our stay in Indian hotels we had never eaten such simple and delicious homestyle Indian food. As you may know commercially prepared Punjabi food is terribly rich and often very spicy. But the food at Ranjit was so simple yet heartwarming. Very 'satvic'. We never knew home cooked punjabi food could be so healthy and delicious.

The dining room and setting was very cozy and comfortable. Making us feel welcome and at home.

Each of our meals at Ranjit Svaasa was excellent. It was possibly our most favourite bit about the hotel.

The next favourite being the Kerala ayurvedic massage! You must give it a shot if you stay here.

Over all we loved Ranjit Svaasa very much and would highly recomend it to anyone who loves a cozy little retreat from the hustle and bustle of Amritsar.
