I agree with the earlier review on SWV. In this instance, there were 3 of us too. We shared the chalet but there were no bed bugs as they actually removed the bed from another chalet. For those prone to mosquitoes bites, be careful. Despite the electric mosquito repellent provided by the hotel, my friend was bitten all over.
The view of the SWV is gorgeous. From the outside, as well as from the balcony of your chalet (avoid getting a chalet facing inwards. Get a chalet facing the open sea). The interior decor is definitely dated, reflecting the age of the property (which is more than 10 years old). Even the furniture looks used and worn. The taps looks like they need replacing.
The buffet is very limited. For a beach resort, the seafood servings are limited and the freshness leaves much to be desired. If you are picky about food, suggest you bring your own comfort food.
The dive master from the dive center (I didn't get his name...but he is definitely the oldest) is very helpful and encouraging. Clearly, Sipadan is a place great for divers, not so great for snorkellers (you get better snorkelling sights in Thailand).
If you'd never stayed at a water village resort before, this is probably a good starter. Unless you get this resort at a good price, I'd would pay a bomb for this. I heart from the locals that the up & coming reort is Mataking. I'd post an article if I stay in Mataking!!
