This was our 3rd visit to Kapalai Resort and this time we got married there! In June last year we fell in love in this magical place and this year we decided that it was gonna be the place were we wanted to get married.

Around 60 friends and family came from different part of the world to join us and we got a wonderful weekend together. So many guests told us that it was the best wedding they ever had been too (and I actually believe they meant it and not only said so),

Kapalai went beyond our expectations when it comes decorations, help from staff, nice surprises, they helped us to book band and pastor and we got access to the kitchen and kitchen staff so we could bake our very own wedding cake which we wanted to do. The resorts crew drove us in a rick shaw to the "aisle" and after the ceremony the dive boat drove us to the restaurant for the reception dinner. They helped us with a lot of shopping that needed to be done and spent a lot of time transporting all our things. We also got to stay in the owners private water villa on the wedding night - great hospitality!

Prices in the bar for wine and beer are very affordable (at least with Malaysian standards an compared to Kuala Lumpur where we for the time being live, 8RM for a beer and 110 RM for a bottle of wine). We could also bring our own liquer to the bar and the staff helped us blend cocktails all nite long.

As weather in tropical place like this are unreliable the staff decorated both on the sand island where we wanted to have the ceremony and also in the garden lounge which has a roof so everything was prepared in case of rain.

Our wedding was more perfect and words cannot explain how thankful we are to the staff of Kapalai!

My husband and I spent 4 days/3 nights at Kapalai. On the third day, my husband dived 4 times in Sipadan.
Over 2 nights (15-16 July) was storm, it was so intense that our bungalow swayed. We were terrified and we haven’t slept well because of the rain and strong wind. Finally, nothing serious happened except broken flowers outside bungalows.

If you love Turtles go to Kapalai, it was amazing. We watched Turtles swim past our water bungalow every morning and every evening. This place is Beautiful

We had a short window to try to get to Sipadan and booked two nights at Kapalai. It was FANTASTIC. Everything from the food to the open shower view of the ocean to the diving was great. The first day you arrive and are in the water within 3 hours for a first dive on the house reef. I think they are getting a feel for who knows what they are doing. Sadly most of the divers in our group had no idea how to control their buoyancy and were crashing all over the house reef. Interestingly the next day were were scheduled for Sipadan but they were not. I think they try to assure that the divers are in a little more control with a few days around other places before taking them to Sipadan.

The first boat dive was also a bit of an issue. The dive master took us directly into the current for about 1/2 of the dive. Sometimes they'll do that to burn up your air and make for a shorter dive. Not sure what was going on. One person in our group called him on it at the surface and it didn't happen again. Not sure if that's common or not.

The diving at Sipadan was fantastic. It really is as good as billed. One issue I had was that you start your day at 5:30AM and are in the water at Sipadan by a little after 6. The time isn't a problem except the sun isn't fully up and there isn't as much light available. Not sure why they go that early. We were done with our 4 dives before 1:00. On the bright side we had time for another evening dive on the house reef.
