My stay here was my first time at Perhentian Besar despite going to Perhentian Kecil twice before.
I knew from reviews and comments that Besar was mainly for family and people looking for a quiet beach. I stayed only one night but it was well worth in my opinion.
I was not really on a tight budget thus we opted for the sea view room (i think that's what they're called) It wasn't cheap compared to other accommodation you can find on that same stretch of beach. It costed RM402.80 for one night including breakfast. I asked for a room furthest from the reception/restaurant area as I was worried it would get noisy. The room was the seventh on the block.
The Room :
Queen size bed. (no bed bugs on my stay)
Shelves and wardrobes did not smell weird.
A lot of power points to charge your electronics.
Air con works.
Had a ceiling fan too.
Dressing table with light.
Heater that works.
I would say the best part about the room was it's verandah. Take 3 steps and you're on the beach with sunbeds waiting for you. It wasn't too sunny as there were trees right outside.
The downside was their breakfast buffet, it didn't have that many choices as what I've had at other hotels but honestly, I won't take that as a negative. However, I ordered a sandwich for lunch and I was served with a piece of bread that already had fungus growing on it. THAT stopped me from having dinner there. They did replace the sandwich. Also, I do agree with the review before mine, the fee they charge for their internet is ridiculous! Because with the price I paid for the room, I expected AT LEAST free wifi for guests.
Either way, I'd still recommend anyone to stay here and personally, I would definitely go back.
