The company that arranged my trek booked a room for me at this place, so I didn't know what to expect. Thankfully, when I arrived at the train station hotel staff met me, brought me to the hotel (five minutes away), and showed me to a decent room with two beds--one more comfortable than the other. My room didn't have a window facing the outside, but some other rooms did. The shower was powerful and hot. The bathroom also featured a toilet and sink made from black-glazed porcelain. The breakfast isn't anything special--just some bread with jam and coffee--but it's enough to get you going before an early trip up to Machu Picchu. (If you're set on hiking up to MP, better find something more substantial.) If you're only staying for a day, they'll store your luggage until you get back. The front door is usually locked and you may have to ring a doorbell. The woman in charge when I was there didn't speak much English, and I hardly speak Spanish, but she was friendly and we managed to communicate the basics. I don't know the room charge, so I can't comment on whether it was a good value.
