“4 stars in some, but 1 star in others”

A nice hotel at first glance, but two issues that bugged my stay:
1. Serious problem with its windows insulation that no one would need a morning call. I could hear clearly the chanting from the next-door Temple at 5:30am. My colleague stayed in the other side of the building, and got to hear the traffic instead.

2. Internet connection requires registration and needs to scratch a card and punch in the pin #. The pin # comes with a time limit but once logged in there is no way to log out. This means that everyday I would need to scratch a card and make a new registration before I could go online. Very tedious!

“Barbaric and collosal mistake”

I originally had booked a suite at the hotel for my girlfriend and I...double occupancy. When I arrived with my girlfriend, security followed us and a call to the room ensued stating unmarried couples were not allowed to stay in the hotel. They insisted (5 men) that she had to go.

I told them to check me out in which they stated that I owed a night's payment. I was shocked as reason was not the strong suit. They were concerned more with occupancy then calling my girlfriend a tart or whatever.

I told them I would not and tried to step outside but they phiscally blocked the door. I asked for the police and they refused, men grabbed me, I was accosted and had my luggage forceable removed from me by about 8-10 men.

They locked it up until payment was demanded. My girlfriend and I were scared and did sign only to be rid of this.

If going back to the dark ages is fun...this is your place. The hotel is pleasing, but the staff is barbaric in the truest sense of the word. I have lived in Chennai for 2 years and never once recieved this kind of treatment. These men were of the lowest sort.

Unfortunately, it left me scarred in the sense that this hotel condones the behaviours of men as barbarous as this.

I landed at the Accord Metropolitan after a flight out was cancelled. They had trouble with my last minute reservation but were very gracious about the whole thing. I ended up with a very nice room (a suite, I think) that was probably the most luxurious and comfortable of the five I'd seen in India. I think it was a suite. In India you are always tripping over staff but it was doubly true here -- two or three people to escort me to my room was a little much. The DVD player didn't work but other than that every thing was very nice and in good working order. The coffee was no good, though.

We ( about 6 of us ) stayed at the Traders for 5 days with a lot of expectations. The staff were pretty OK and the rooms were comfortable. However, the F&B experience was a big let down. Over priced and average menus which obviously didn't have any value. Worst of all, I asked to see the GM but not even a phone call from his end. Didnt see any senior execs walking around as well..I believe Shangri La has exited this property and is now run by the S'pore based Orchard Group.
