My wife and I relocated to Hotel 717 after experiencing indifferent service at the hotel we stayed at previously in Darjeeling.
We found the hotel staff friendly and helpful. Assistance was only a phone call away.
The rooms were well decorated in Tibetan style and were spotlessly cleaned.
The hotel had food available to cater to most tastes.
The owners have built the hotel from the ground up and are justifiably proud of their achievement.
The hotel caters for groups as well as individual travelers and is popular with children.
The location is central and I found quieter than other places in Darjeeling.
I will stay here next time we visit.

We had a blast in Darjeeling, it was a great experience. Luckily we stayed at the SevenSeventeen because the hotel staff were very helpful advising us what to see and where to go. The hotel itself is exactly what we needed, a clean and comfortable room at very affordable price. And also the restaurant serves a variety of nice food so we could have most our dinners in the hotel after tiring days of sight-seeing. Combined with friendly staff we had a very pleasant stay indeed.

The hotel has such an incredible homely ambience while the service and catering is extremely efficient. It is an out of world experience with the heritage rooms yet every comfort being attended to. One feels secure too! The amazing thing was the rates were very affordable

Extreme cost cutting approach i.e.do not provide hot water unless asked thrice, avoid food /sweet dish unless guest demands it in buffet dinner.
Staff not helpful, uncourtious
Ill maintained room i.e. flush does not work.not willing to repair/
Not willing to change room even after a day while rooms were vacant
