My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 11 days and got married on the beach in front of the hotel. Our wedding was better then excpected because of an employee named Andrea. She and Leah were great and very helpful.

If you are looking for a nice hotel in a quiet area with shade on the beach this is it! The service is not what we americans are used to, but so what! If you want something you get up and get it ,or ask politely for it.

The town of Samara was awesome, just enough to do and places to eat. Visit Co Co's, Pizza and Pasta a Go Go,and Sheriffs. Deffinitly go to wing nuts canopy tour, it was a highlight of the trip.

Las Brisas was worth the price....learn spanish or at least a little:)

Read in Frommer's this was THE place to stay...I'm not sure what the options are, but I have a recommendation - unless you are 20, don't carry cash, and are a surfer, find somewhere else to stay! Staff was relatively pleasant - but area and hotel were basically deserted when we were there. Linens on the beds were very thin and worn, rooms do not feel particularly secure, and we had them move us from the original room assigned due to odors (musty,moldy). Food was OK. Signs warning about theft are somewhat disconcerting, and we believe that some cash was taken from our room while we were either at dinner or swimming. Beautiful views and beach, this place may be hopping during surf season, but I do not recommend for anything else.

I must admit our first impression wasn't encouraging but as it was late after a long drive we decided to spend one night and regroup in the morning. I was traveling w/my brother, his wife and his two teenagers and my wife and two teenagers so we booked a quad w/ac for the kids and we stayed in the $40 bungalows with a ceiling fan. The rooms were what you'd expect at that rate, they were clean but pretty unimpressive as far as decor. In the morning we enjoyed a Tico breakfast and checked out the beach. The sun finally came out and I think that helped everyone's spirits after 2 days of rain. We had a great lunch at the hotel and decided to spend another day. The place kind of grows on you, it isn't anything special but at the same time it is right on the beach and the beer is cold- if you're looking for a plush spot this really isn't it. If you're okay with a place that is a bit weathered with a great beach location next toa good surf shop (Jesse's)and a short walk to town I think this place would be fine. We ended up staying 6 nights there and the weather was spectacular and we all surfed and played cards and had a very relaxed time for not a lot of money. This is the first time my family has stayed in a place like this as far as its overall appearance and style- you know what, it was fine if you just kept it all in perspective- beautiful beach,decent food and a place to crash after a long day in the sun and waves.- pura vida

They are not nice and not clean and over use poisen which kills the wildlife around the hotel which is part of joy of Costa Rica so you see all these dead animals. they would be better off just leaving them alone or shooing them away rather than poisening them so the dead carcasses are laying around. Stayed 1 night and moved.
