Wonderful hotel in every way! The July 12, 2007 does a great job of describing my experience too! The Hotel is under new management and the owner has renovated every room and added a beautiful pool and spa for your pleasure. Breakfast was served outside under a lovely cabana.
Our last evening, the owner invited us and a couple from Chicago for a
delicious complimentary dinner- just to say thanks for choosing Hotel Esperanza. Early next year a restaurant and bar will be added.

Playa Carrillo is a beautiful spot and the beach was amazing. I was able to run barefoot in the smooth sand and surf.

From the moment we arrived until the time of checkout, my wife and I were treated like royalty by the staff at Esperanza. The hotel is situated on a hill about 3 minutes away from the Carillo Beach (walking). We stayed there for a week and used it as a 'home base' for our various excursions.

The rooms were nice and clean. Air conditioning worked great and they
even have a DVD collection which my wife and I used one rainy evening. The pool is cool and clear and has a beautiful waterfall which runs during the day.

We found it nice that the beer and drinks are on the 'honor system'.
When you are thirsty, you simply grab your beverage of choice from the refrigerator and mark your room number on a sheet of paper.

The food was excellent and breakfast was prepared every morning (included in the fare). We brought fresh fish back to the hotel from our fishing excursion; the Esperanza staff cleaned it, and made ceviche for us! They were very nice and accommodating. We will be back!

My wife and I returned to Costa Rica in early April, visiting our favorite hideaway, the Hotel Esperanza in Carillo..Since we haven't been back for a year, boy, were we surprised!!..It appears that the new American owners(from Florida) have turned a great property into a greater one, as if by magic!!! The improvements were incredible..First of all, and the most striking new addition , was the pool and spa, that rivals any I have seen at luxury resorts anywhere..The new lobby, and entrance from the street, more parking area, handicapped facilities including a ramp and handicapped accessible room, and redecorated rooms, offered us a property that we now consider 6 STARS!!!

Breakfasts, as usual, were bountiful and delicious..Service was first rate..We admired the friendliness of the staff..Every staff member was determined to see to it that we enjoyed the updated facilities to the utmost.. We did, and if you visit the Hotel Esperanza, you will too..The Hotel Esperanza presents Costa Rica as the ideal vacation spot for anyone seeking the true definition of paradise..

As part of our travels throughout Costa Rica we stayed over a week in Hotel Esperanza.
We had chosen this hotel and location to get married. It was to be an intimate ceremony with a dozen guests.
Our decision was quicly confirmed when we saw how helpfull the hotel owners and manager were at helping us set the stage for our very special day!
They helped us find and reserve a notary public. They catered a beautiful and delicious meal, organised live local music.... and all the little details that really count!
We were married on the beach at sunset, then enjoyed the evening celebration at the hotel!! All of our guests for the wedding were guests at Hotel Esperanza.

It is a small 7 room hotel, beautiful 2 level pool... with a delicious breakfast! The a/c is no luxury because it got quite hot in the afternoons... it was nice to hide in our beautiful room and watch a movie in a cool room... before heading down to the beach for the remainder of the day!

We have 2 daughters: 11 and 5 that did not want to leave... what wih the pool, a beautiful beach 5 minutes walk away that is fairy tail-like: not crowded at all ( we often felt like we were alone) , lots of soft sand, beautiful shells, safe waves to jump and play in, colorful fish to dicover when wearing a mask and snorkel, and of course a perfect spot for our wedding!!

We will keep a special place in our hearts for this hotel, its beautiful location and helpful and friendly staff... we would highly recommend it!!
