My boyfriend & I drove by the Hotel Esperanza and we really liked the look of the place. The manager and staff welcome us as if we were family. We stayed 2 nights and had a wonderful time. The rooms which had been renovated within the last year were very clean and lovely. Breakfast was included and was very good. We came back a week later and again stayed at the Hotel Esperanza for 3 more nights. We met the owner who also make us feel at home. They were just opening the restrauant and had a new chef. The pizza and pasta were excellent. I would definitely recommend this hotel. For good service; friendly staff; clean rooms and great food you will be impressed.

My friend and I stayed at Hotel Esperanza for our last stop on a R&R vacation. The owner and staff are attentive; determined to make their hotel the best experience for travelers to Playa Carillo and Samara. The rooms are clean, spotless down to hidden corners. Breakfast is included and I understand that the owner is planning a restaurant in the near future. featuring gourmet dishes from local chefs. Manager Ervin will arrange to have a tour guide meet at the hotel to schedule any activity you might want. We scheduled a morning horseback ride. The horses arrived at the hotel and the ride to a beach and scenic overlook was perfect! Easy walk to the beach, even for children. Playa Carillo, by the way, is one of the best beaches in CR and does not have the dangerous undertow and rip currents like many other beaches. Close to local sodas and markets. Pristine clean pool and spa! I am planning to return with my children and husband for a perfect beach vacation next year! If you want a mid-range hotel with a friendly, local, comfortable feel, this hotel is for you!

Wonderful hotel in every way! The July 12, 2007 does a great job of describing my experience too! The Hotel is under new management and the owner has renovated every room and added a beautiful pool and spa for your pleasure. Breakfast was served outside under a lovely cabana.
Our last evening, the owner invited us and a couple from Chicago for a
delicious complimentary dinner- just to say thanks for choosing Hotel Esperanza. Early next year a restaurant and bar will be added.

Playa Carrillo is a beautiful spot and the beach was amazing. I was able to run barefoot in the smooth sand and surf.

From the moment we arrived until the time of checkout, my wife and I were treated like royalty by the staff at Esperanza. The hotel is situated on a hill about 3 minutes away from the Carillo Beach (walking). We stayed there for a week and used it as a 'home base' for our various excursions.

The rooms were nice and clean. Air conditioning worked great and they
even have a DVD collection which my wife and I used one rainy evening. The pool is cool and clear and has a beautiful waterfall which runs during the day.

We found it nice that the beer and drinks are on the 'honor system'.
When you are thirsty, you simply grab your beverage of choice from the refrigerator and mark your room number on a sheet of paper.

The food was excellent and breakfast was prepared every morning (included in the fare). We brought fresh fish back to the hotel from our fishing excursion; the Esperanza staff cleaned it, and made ceviche for us! They were very nice and accommodating. We will be back!
