From the moment we arrived (one day earlier than planned) until the time of checkout, my husband and I were treated like members of the family by Irwin and staff at Esperanza. His first words to us were , treat this as your home. The hotel is situated on a hill 200 yards from the Carillo Beach (walking). We stayed there for 5 days and enjoyed every day. Perfect for wandering down to the beach at 6.00 and 16.00 and lazing about at the pool during the heat of the day. The food was wonderful and I'd highly recomend this to any one. $2 taxi fare to Samara if you feel the need to shop otherwise Perfect.

My boyfriend & I drove by the Hotel Esperanza and we really liked the look of the place. The manager and staff welcome us as if we were family. We stayed 2 nights and had a wonderful time. The rooms which had been renovated within the last year were very clean and lovely. Breakfast was included and was very good. We came back a week later and again stayed at the Hotel Esperanza for 3 more nights. We met the owner who also make us feel at home. They were just opening the restrauant and had a new chef. The pizza and pasta were excellent. I would definitely recommend this hotel. For good service; friendly staff; clean rooms and great food you will be impressed.

My friend and I stayed at Hotel Esperanza for our last stop on a R&R vacation. The owner and staff are attentive; determined to make their hotel the best experience for travelers to Playa Carillo and Samara. The rooms are clean, spotless down to hidden corners. Breakfast is included and I understand that the owner is planning a restaurant in the near future. featuring gourmet dishes from local chefs. Manager Ervin will arrange to have a tour guide meet at the hotel to schedule any activity you might want. We scheduled a morning horseback ride. The horses arrived at the hotel and the ride to a beach and scenic overlook was perfect! Easy walk to the beach, even for children. Playa Carillo, by the way, is one of the best beaches in CR and does not have the dangerous undertow and rip currents like many other beaches. Close to local sodas and markets. Pristine clean pool and spa! I am planning to return with my children and husband for a perfect beach vacation next year! If you want a mid-range hotel with a friendly, local, comfortable feel, this hotel is for you!

Wonderful hotel in every way! The July 12, 2007 does a great job of describing my experience too! The Hotel is under new management and the owner has renovated every room and added a beautiful pool and spa for your pleasure. Breakfast was served outside under a lovely cabana.
Our last evening, the owner invited us and a couple from Chicago for a
delicious complimentary dinner- just to say thanks for choosing Hotel Esperanza. Early next year a restaurant and bar will be added.

Playa Carrillo is a beautiful spot and the beach was amazing. I was able to run barefoot in the smooth sand and surf.
