“A peaceful, personal haven”

Entre Dos Aguas

We traveled to this tropical haven with 2 teenage boys, and a 21 year old girl. We were greeted by the new owners who were friendly, helpful and extremely knowledgable about the area. They were able to recomend restaurants, book outings, call taxis, and even translate phone calls for us!
We loved the unique and clean rooms, which all have locally hand made furniture and stone showers. The grounds are lush and beautiful and we especially loved the visiting monkey Linda.
Breakfasts were lovely, and plenty even for teenage boys.
We plan to return and bring more friends and relatives.

“Great time at Entre Dos Aguas”

My husband and I stayed at Entre Dos Aguas for almost a week as part of a longer trip in Costa Rica this Spring. We had a wonderful, relaxed time - the grounds are really beautiful and there was a very interesting mix of travelers there (from a Swedish family with three young children to a retired Italian couple who had been there for weeks). Breakfast was great, the new owner makes her own granola and there are several choices so you are not eating the same thing every day. A young American couple had recently bought the hotel and they were open and friendly and tried to help with any kind of problem or question that came up. They were in the process of organizing a trip board and seemed eager to make a lovely, relaxing spot even nicer. We had planned many more day trips than we ended up taking because it was so pleasant to stay where we were. The hotel itself is very simple but very attractive - the rooms are all unique and have interesting furniture made from native woods. Our room was always very clean and you could pay a very nominal fee to have your laundry done by the maids. I liked the hotel so much that my book club is renting the whole place for a weeklong retreat next January.

“relaxing, quiet and friendly”

Entre Dos Aguas was a peaceful relaxing garden of green and shade in dry surroundings( i was there in the dry season), just the type of place i look for when traveling from place to place. The pool was clean and the folks running the place were open to be engaging or to stay in the background it seemed to me. Although the beach was what i call a visible couple blocks away from the entrance, it made for a short fun walk and for peace and quiet.. The room i stayed in was clean and the water hot. The ceiling fan was enough to keep me comfortable at night sleeping. When moving around a country this is the type of place i hope to find, Nothing fancy but shadey and quiet and relaxing with an area outside your room to lay around in. Maybe i would call this place an upscale backpackers place or rather what a backpacker wishes they could fit in their budget. I was totally satisfied to stop off here for a couple days.

Our family decided to do a different kind of vacation so, instead of going to a luxery resort like we typically go to, we decided to try a small hotel in a real town in a foreign country. We got just what we hoped for. We were at a darling place that had real character and got to wander around a little town that didn't feel like a tourist town. We had three teen-aged boys with us, and they loved it. It was easy for them to come and go as they pleased, safe for them to walk around town or go down to the beach, and we all enjoyed lounging at the pool or on the patio chatting with the owners. The boys didn't even mind that there was only one TV in the whole place! We actually sat around or floated in the pool and talked. What a treat!

The hotel itself was clean, the breakfast was good, the owners were friendly with everyone there, and we were well cared for.

While I don't think we would stay with the whole family for more than about 4 days as it is a bit quiet for the kids, it was a great experience that we look forward to repeating.

I highly recommend this place.

we have some qualms about playa samara in general, but this review will strictly be about our hotel stay which was nothing but positive.

this place was exactly what my fiancee and i were looking for. great locale, totally laid-back, low cost, clean, with very kind and generous new owners. the other reviewer who was swept up in comparisons obviously had better things to do than relax and enjoy their vacation including the hotel itself and the friendliness of the owners and guests alike. it was obvious to us that this great getaway -- one of the best looking places in town -- attracted likeminded clientele.

the grounds were lush and clean. the breakfast was ample and delicious. the room was spotless and unique with its costa rican finishes. the stone shower ruled, urging us to use it a few times everyday. and the sheets and towels were clean and changed every morning.

this is the kind of place you want to go if you want to relax and enjoy something unpretentious and obviously more reflective of the culture surrounding it. it provides you with all the amenities you require and more, all at high standards, but at a low cost.

the owners love and know about costa rica. they have stories and time to share with you if you are open-minded and relaxed enough to do the same. they maintain solid friendships with everyone in town it seems, which helps you relax and trust in a stressless vacation even more.

i've never felt the urge to write one of these reviews until now. i can honestly say that if we ever head to costa rica again (we live in the uk), we would make sure to include a stay at this hotel. if you're looking for a place where they will bend over backwards to cater to your every high-class whim and fancy, then forget about this place. if you enjoy the casual sight of a curious monkey or gecko, if you prefer a nice breeze over alien air-conditioning, if you prefer the creative over the typical, if you're looking to make some friends, relax, enjoy a beer in one of the hammocks, take a swim, take a nap, and share a story, then by all means, get in on this place.

you'll likely miss it as much as we do.
