Sometimes I worry that I'll get what I paid for.... this was not the case with Hotel Nahua. Its a nice complex with only a few rooms that cost us $60 per night. We were central to supermarkets. bars, restaurants and most importantly the beach - a 5 minute walk! I think sometimes when you go to a place like Costa Rica you get stuck in an all inclusive and can be trapped in an area isolated from civilization -- this is not the case here. My husband and I enjoyed an apartment type room with a kitchenette, fridge, blender, stove, dining table with chairs, a queen sized bed and 2 twin beds. There's a/c and ceiling fans. If we didn't want to eat out, we could buy food in the supermarket and cook it in the room or barbecue it outside!
The only things that may weird people out is the bathroom situation since its separated from the rest of the room by a "half/three quarter wall" -- in other words those walls don't reach the ceiling so if you have issues with privacy while you do your business you may not like this hotel. Also there are geckos and ants in the room -- which can be typical of Costa Rica...if that "bugs" you then you may be better off staying and paying more money for a 5 star hotel but there's no guarantee that those critters won't make it in there!!!
Besides the two minor negatives above -- everything is great -- they have a pool, barbecue area, hammock area, each room has an outside deck like area and if you're lucky you'll see the howler monkeys in the trees in the back! I would definitely stay there again.
The have an airport service -- they picked us up from Liberia for $60
