I think the place is good overall. The staff is a bit snooty - and I'm not sure why. I had no real problems, but just didn't like the attitude. Good views, close to the park, restaurants are decent. The facilities are well maintained and clean.

This was not my first time in CR and won't be my last - but I will not stay here again.

We had a great time at Costa Verde II. We arrived after a full day of travel and were greeted by the hotel staff that was very friendly and helpful. They showed us to our room, which was located in the adults only section. We had room 14, which had a view of the ocean and the forest. GREAT ROOM! The pool was great and had awesome ocean views and great drinks! The property as a whole is great- they have restaurants, bars and pools! I would recommend this hotel to family and friends. In the mornings at 7am the white face monkeys would come and visit our balcony - they were so cute! I recommend going with the open air accommodations, because it is amazing to hear all the nature sounds. Also, the location is great. It is very close to the Park (walking distance).

We stayed in a studio plus. It had no air conditioning and just screens...but the fans and ocean breezes kept us comfortable. The view was truly panoramic and breathtaking. We stayed in Costa verde 2....room 12. Coming from snowy Wisconsin the heat and humidity took some getting used to, but there was a great pool just below our room to cool off in. Contrary to other reviews...we did see more monkeys than people and sloths...all right on their private trails and at their Anaconda restaurant.
The only thing I would warn people about is that it is quite hilly. Because of the heat and the hills....some people may not be able to handle it well. We are in 50's/60's and did fine....but we are used to walking.
Another tip: The city bus stops right in front of hotel. We used it all the time and its about 40cents (200 colones). It is much cheaper and simpler than calling taxis.
All and all we loved this place. I am adding a picture of the view from our room and a monkey at the restaurant.
Another tip...monkeys are very active in the morning (before 8am)....if you sleep in...you will miss alot.

My wife and I just returned from another great stay at the Costa Verde II hotel. We stayed in the penthouse which had some awesome views, We ate at all three of the hotels resturants which were all great. The La Catina BBQ which serves great food cooked over an open fire has a small band that plays nightly. The El Avion which is a short walk from the main hotel has 1 of the Iran/Contra cargo planes turned into a bar. The Anacoda is the main hotels rest. and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. All had great food and they even made some great ceviche for us from some maui maui that we catch. The staff were all very friendly and helpfull. Saw a ton of monkeys all over the hotel grounds. Would stay again.
