On a recent visit to Monteverde, Costa Rica, I had a most memorable visit to Sarah Dowell's gallery. Up a peaceful, picturesque and lusciously forested road, the gallery and house in which it can be found, is nestled into the trees and surrounding woods. Every step taken on the walk to the gallery reveals visuals worthy of a picture, with many of Sarah's paintings depicting the scenes visitors see on the way. Once Sarah's property is reached, you feel like you've stepped into another world, with first coming to what looks like a hobbit house at the entrance to the main house and the gallery. Her very well-priced pictures hang in a spacious wood frame room that invites you to stay, look and take home one (or more) of her beautiful paintings. I for one have four adorning the walls of my house in the states.
Sarah's watercolors will delight the visitor to the gallery. Each one is created from all that Sarah sees in the world around Monteverde and the surrounding areas. They draw you into the splendor of the Costa Rican habitat, seen through the eyes of this very talented artist. Sarah's work is not to be missed. I HIGHLY recommend this gallery and trust that visitors will be captivated by all that is on display!
From the main road in Monteverde, the gallery is approximately a 10-20 minute walk (depending upon your pace), so leave time for getting up there, staying a while and then walking back. Don't forget your walking shoes, which are best worn on the dirt road leading to the gallery.
