This is a lovely bed and breakfast, complete with amazing Costa Rican art decorating the walls, wonderful ambient light, great rooms, and a wonderful staff. And, the neighborhood has great beauty.
The lobby is lovely, with the open air garden in view for dining or relaxing, or watching the hummingbirds by day, and small sweet fruit bats at night (they are delightful to watch). The room are generous in size, and the first floor rooms have 12 ft hight ceilings. The bathrooms are sizable, and very clean. Wood floors are complete within the hotel. this was originally built as a residence, so it is not cookie cutter at all, but rather very welcoming and unique.
The staff is very helpful and accomodating. I met both Raquel and Christian during my stay, and they were both so helpful and pleasant, and always quick with a smile.
As for the neighborhood I found it wonderful to walk through during the day. As this neighborhood used to home the coffee barrons, there are many large and wonderful homes to look at, most of which have been converted to hotels. It is a short walk to many art galleries, as well as the lovely Parque Morazán and Parque España. Its a nice walk to Avenida Central, too. I only took taxis after dark, which is a safe thing to do, but please don't be scared to stay in this neighborhood. It is a gem.
