I'm sure if I weren't traveling with a group of teenagers on a missions trip, I might have gotten better service.
The Hotel itself is pretty decent. I was shocked we were staying at such a nice place, since most times were in dorms/hostel type places. I paid extra to have my own room and it was worth it. I had a walk out patio with table and chairs, king bed, bathtub and shower. The rooms were somewhat worn but decent. Though I left the maid a tip each day, and left a note in spanish requesting coffee set up, I only got in once. I have to have my coffee in the morning. It didn't look like my room was vacumed the whole stay. But, I got through it.
The pool area is very nice and the greenery is beautiful. The flowers were all in full bloom and I loved that part of it. I don't think they cleaned the pool either, it was pretty nasty by the 4th day we were there. I didn't dare go in, but the kids with me went everyday.
We ate breakfast everyday there and dinner once. We were served the same thing everyday and it got old real quick, some of the stuff came from the main restaurant, and I wasn't impressed with what the main restaurant had to offer, not much at all. Great pineapple, coffee was awful and Costa Rica is known for their coffee. But when they keep a pot of milk on the coffee machine burner all day and it's got that milk scum on top, it's just no really appealing. We got somekind of watery strawberry juice everyday. Would have been great had they not tried to strech 16 glasses out of what should have been 10. Dinner was ok. Pork chops, salad, beans rice. I never want to see beans and rice for a very very long time.
The Staff at the Hotel were very nice. I'm sure it was overwhelming for them to have the entire Hotel invaded by teenagers, but each time I had to exchange money or ask questions they were super nice. They have a room with 2 computers with dial up which was so slow you'd just give up after awhile, but if you have your own lap top free wi fi in lobby.
They also have cookies and coffee in the lobby all day too.
If you walk out the front door of the Hotel turn left go to the first street and go left again there is a grocery store with a Fantastic bakery in the back there. A dry cleaners, smoke shop, pharmacy and small coffee shop. Perfect for little stuff and the bakery had some of the best french bread. They are open from 6 am till Midnite.
