My recent stay at the property was wonderful! How could it be anything else in the beautiful Tahitian setting? Most of the staff spoke fluent English and were very accommodating. The rooms were large with comfortable appointments. Most have balconies overlooking the beautiful beach. The grounds were kept immaculately. While food was very expensive, the breakfast buffet offered a large variety of food. It was pleasant to eat in the open air overlooking the beach. When I commented about there being no birds trying to share my food, I was told that there were no birds on the island! I went into town for other meals, so can't comment on their extended menu. The evening PoIynesian entertainment was very good. I would definitely recommend this hotel to travelers. It offers a great pool and beach area and the city of Papeete is a short city bus ride away. Public transportation is much less expensive than a taxi. While the hotel will exchange currency, the bank in downtown Papeete offers a better exchange rate.

The only negative thing I can say about the property is that some of the sidewalks to the rooms are poorly lighted. There area uneven areas that could be a problem for older travelers. The hotel lobby floor and surrounding area is lovely tile, but they are very slick when wet. I saw many people fall from the slick tiles after a rain. Two in our group left in wheelchairs!

We stayed in this hotel before and after our cruise on the Paul Gauguin.
The hotel itself is in a .lovely setting and the rooms are wonderful. the problem with the hotel is service. The staff is not very well trained and really needs some good solid training.
When we returned from our cruise, we were transported by buses to the hotel.. we were all members of two touring companies, Vantage and Grand Circle.
the hotel knew we were coming, yet let people stay in rooms beyond the check out time.
As a result, over 100 of us had to wait 2-3 hours for rooms. and then when we finally got the rooms,. most of us had no towels.
this hotel needs much better management.

The facility itself is beautiful. Large rooms, beautiful infinity pool, black sand beach, and nicely landscaped grounds. That's where it ends. We requested towels four separate times, from 5:00pm to 9:30pm, and finally after demanding we see the manager, had a few frayed towels delivered to our room. The room itself was dirty beyond belief. Thick dust on most surfaces and a balcony floor so dirty I was able to write in it with my finger. And talk about attitude! Very rude front desk person, and the manager wasn't much better. They all insist on speaking French to each other, although the manager admitted that well over 70% of their guests were English-speaking. The restaurant food was tastless, bland, and cold. The restaurant service was nearly non-existent. We paid just shy of $25 US for a cheeseburger & fries on our last day there. If this is an example of Radisson quality, I'd hate to see the rest of the chain! Plus, this hotel is a long way from downtown Papeete. My advice -- look elsewhere for a place to stay in Papeete. You can thank me later! (By the way, I have about 10 digital photographs of the filth in our room. The Raddison in Papeete seemed to be the most reasonably priced hotel in its class in Papeete. We spent 3 nights there, en route to one of the smaller islands. Nicely laid out accommodation; room v.tastefully furnished & well equipped. Our room had a lovely view overlooking the garden & the ocean. Breakfast wasn't included in our deal and was rather pricey. Reception staff were helpful with good English. The free minibus shuttle to Papeete town centre twice daily is very necessary, as the hotel is several kms out of town in a residential area, with not a single shop or restaurant, outside of the hotel. At night, while the pool-side setting of the hotel bar was very pleasant, there was no music or entertainment of any description.
