This hotel has made quite an impressive leap from a slow and steady decline a few years ago. The newly refurbished rooms are still a bit small for my taste but they are beautiful, clean and well maintained. The beds are more comfortable than I could ever describe. The property is beautiful and I don't believe I have ever had a poor view from any of the rooms that I have stayed in over the years.

The only small drawback(s): 1.) The food that is available on the property is average with above average prices (but that is expected at a hotel, I guess). 2.) Skis and snowboards are no longer allowed to be carried through the hotel (this is a good thing - as I'm sure this is how the hotel got so beat up a few years ago). This rule is strictly enforced and we weren't prepared to drive our equipment around to the storage room (near the tram entrance) as we parked and then carried everything into the lobby. Small pain but it is a reasonable request, I think. Nobody offered to help us carry our equipment to the storage room.

Since our favorite eatery was closed, the Double Musky/Muskee(SP?), we tried a small place located near the Sitzmark - Jack Sprat - very unique cuisine that we loved! Highly recommended.

“Great Vacation”

Hotel Alyeska

My family and I stayed at the Aleyeska Resort for a week while on our Alaska vacation. The hotel is in a central location and the drive is easy to any destination. Our room was great, we booked a junior suite and the views were outstanding. The bed is comfortable, but with all the activitiy involved on the vacation a solid plank of wood would have done the job...lol. I consider myself a bit of a hotel snob and this hotel was awesome! The restaurants were very good, but I thought the seven glaciers was overrated, considering you can get the same food for less at the cafe. Although the tram ride is a must. My only complaint was on the last night, a large group of kids arrived and caused a significant amount of noise, but the hotel had security go to the room and all was quiet . I really loved this hotel and am glad I did not stay in Anchorage. This allows for a true Alaska experience with all of the comforts of home.

“Nice Hotel...small rooms but great views”

Have stayed at this hotel before the room remodels. The remodels are very nice. Stayed in a larger suite the first time, but this time was only able to stay in a standard room. The suites are very nice, but the standard rooms are very small, especially for 2. However, the views are fantastic from the front facing rooms. Staff are friendly. Location is very convenient to Anchorage and a great starting point to see the Kenai (Seward/Homer). A must is to take a helicopter ride from the local service in Girdwood. The ride is fantastic and the most memorable experience of a lifetime. Unfortunately both times we have been to the hotel the lifts have just closed so we have not been able to go to the top. We hear it's spectacular and the food is top notch there. Always worth a stay and probably the most upscale hotel in the Anchorage area. Certainly the best.

“Beautiful mountain resort”

My daughter and I stayed 1 night at this beautiful resort in May. We were looking for a place to stay after a full day of cruising the Prince William Sound seeing the glaciers and wildlife. This seemed like a good stopover on the way to Denali. We were not disappointed. This is a beautiful spot and the only ski resort, I believe, in Alaska. We arrived on the last day of skiing season (Memorial Day weekend). There was still some snow at the top of the mountain and a few skiiers but essentially the ski season was over. We took the tram to the top of the mountain and the views were spectacular. We had just had several days of rain and were grateful the weather cleared for the wonderful views that awaited us. We ate at the Pond Cafe and it was very good. The room was spotless and the bed was heavenly. Great room darkening shades. Our room had a view of the mountain, the tram and the pond. I would have liked to hike the Winner Creek Trail but time did not allow it. Next time! I could see that if the resort was any busier, parking could be a problem. I think we got the last available spot in the lot near the hotel when we arrived. I would highly recommend this resort and if time allows, stay 2 nights. The Seward Highway is magnificent with "ohs and ahs" around each new bend. A beautiful highway to drive and explore the sights along the way. We took advantage of the many pull-offs along the way. This is a drive you should not rush thru. Hotel Alyeska was a perfect stop along the Seward Highway and a great part of our Alaska adventure!

The beds were without a doubt the most comfortable wonderful beds we have ever encountered. The hotel was beautiful. We had lousy weather so we did not get the views we had hoped for but the property was still lovely.
