We stayed one night at the end of our Alaska vacation in Sept 2007. I went to the hotel website and got a special rate. Based on the fabric display at the check-in desk, we got a renovated room on one of the top floors. It had a view of the mountains on the entrance side. The bed had a feather bed on top which was heavenly. The room had a mini fridge and a safe, The toilet had a phone which, to me, means it is a fancy hotel.
Several guests in the elevator commented the pool was great.
We took the tram and hiked to the glacier, which was a bit steep and for some reason there were lots of pesky mosquitos. Right next to the hotel is Winner Trail. We hiked through the forest to the gorge and waterfall, and there were no mosquitos. Several people picked wild blueberries.
We ate at Maxine's restaurant in Girdwood; the atmosphere (live music) was better than the food. We had breakfast at the hotel's Pond Cafe which overlooked the artificial pond, fountain and garden. The food was tasty but overpriced.
Highly recommended. We would stay again. Much better value than Anchorage hotels and better scenery and nearby hiking.

We booked for three nights the beginning of September, 2007. We checked in early and was greeted by helpful staff. The room was smaller than expected but the veiw and the bed made up for that quickly. The water pressure in the shower was very poor, however this a minor inconvience.
We ate at the restaurant in the hotel (I think it was the Ponds) It was great. We wanted to try the Seven Glaciers but we ran out of time and had so many suggestions for places to eat in Girdwood that it was not possible. In town Chair5 is worth a trip into Girdwood.
We visited the lounge a couple evenings and the staff there was very friendly and informative.
Overall a great stay and I cannot wait to return.

As part of our tour through Alaska-awesome place, we stayed two nights at the Alyeska Resort in Girdwood. If you are going to Alaska, do not miss this hotel! The beds are awesome, the rooms incredible. We also ate at the 7 Glaciers REstaurant at the top of the tram, the food was excellent...
