Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. He drove us through Juneau before we started our tour. On our tour we saw eagles, seals, sea lions and lots of humpback whales (including four mother whales with calves.) The cruise ship tours are on huge boats. We had six in our group and were able to get close to the whales right at tail level. At the end of the tour our guide took us to Mendenhall Glacier. We got to see a little of Juneau and had a great day with the whales.

We chose this tour on a Trip Advisor forum recommendation and are very glad we did. We saw whales and sea lions and bald eagles, but even more importantly we did it in a small group (just our family) on a small boat with a friendly and knowledgeable guide. This really makes all the difference to make a good day a great day.

Highly recommended for anyone, but in our case we had parents with 3 young children (8, 5 and 2) and the children were really welcome, not just tolerated. The had model whales to hold, binoculars to use and even had a go at driving the boat.

The reviews on T|rip Advisor are right. There were just 6 people in their new boat with captain Jay and his daughter Jayleen. They are both on maximum enthusiasm the whole time, it's almost as though it's their first time seeing whales!

Jay was determined to find Humpbacks which after a slow start we did in great numbers. We also saw seals and Bald Eagles.

Jay is also a professional photographer so there's a chance to purchase some of his wildlife photo's, though he doesn't do a hard sell, and they are first rate.

We were transferred to/from the ship as part of the deal by Jack (another photographer) and on the way back he took us to see the Mendenhall Glacier which was a really nice unexpected extra.

There are so many whales in the area at this time of year Jay guarantees seeing them so I suppose they're bound to get great reviews but their knowledge, enthusiasm and determination to give every visitor a good day must set them apart. Well recommended.

Whale watching with Harv and Marv in their 6 person boat was without a doubt everyone's favorite part of our very recent Alaska vacation. That is saying alot because the vacation included alot of amazing experiences and it is seldom that my husband, 2 teens and I all agree on something like this! If you only do one thing in Juneau, give this one strong consideration. It was better than our helicopter ride and walk on a glacier! We had been whale watching before (with some success), but this was very special. The captain was friendly and very competent. He found all kinds of humpback and orca whales and we were able to get as close as legally allowed. An underwater microphone allowed us to hear them calling each other. That was really amazing too. I know this has been stated in other reviews, but don't miss this one. It is DEFINATELY very special.
