The service for our whale watching tour was first rate. We booked the tour months before we arrived via a Holland America cruise in September 2009. We saw humpback whales, a pod of orca whales, stellar sea lions and eagles. The wildlife can never be guaranteed and we had an extraordinarily good day, and the personalized service made the trip even better. Thank you captain Jay and Jayleen!!

My wife and I wanted to see some wildlife, especially humpback whales, in and around Juneau, Alaska. From the moment Eileen's father picked us up at the dock, we were learning about Alaska more than we had ever learned before. By the time we met our captain and guide at the dock, Harv, I knew we had chosen wisely. The boat was sharp-looking and small, which was awesome! We had spent so much time on the cruise ship with so many other people, it was nice to have a small craft with just a handful of people, including us. The boat had a warm and dry cabin with big windows to see the beautiful whales. And boy did we see whales! We saw them come up for air and breech so many times we nearly lost count! They're such amazing creatures and we were able to get as close as legally allowed. We also saw seals and bald eagles! What truly made this experience phenomenal was Harv. His passion and enthusiasm for the ocean, the whales, the wildlife, Juneau, and just life in general made this 4 and half hour excursion the best experience of our cruise. We would have stayed all day, if we could've. If you go to Juneau, you absolutely must do Harv & Marv's Outback Alaska tour!!!

Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. He drove us through Juneau before we started our tour. On our tour we saw eagles, seals, sea lions and lots of humpback whales (including four mother whales with calves.) The cruise ship tours are on huge boats. We had six in our group and were able to get close to the whales right at tail level. At the end of the tour our guide took us to Mendenhall Glacier. We got to see a little of Juneau and had a great day with the whales.

We chose this tour on a Trip Advisor forum recommendation and are very glad we did. We saw whales and sea lions and bald eagles, but even more importantly we did it in a small group (just our family) on a small boat with a friendly and knowledgeable guide. This really makes all the difference to make a good day a great day.

Highly recommended for anyone, but in our case we had parents with 3 young children (8, 5 and 2) and the children were really welcome, not just tolerated. The had model whales to hold, binoculars to use and even had a go at driving the boat.
