My husband and I only spent one night at the Travelodge before taking a flight out the next day, and it met our needs. I do think for the price we paid ($143/night-AAA rate) it should include at least a continental breakfast, but the hotel has a restaurant and they want you to buy meals there. The room was large, clean, and it had a microwave, fridge, and the basics. Bed was ok, but the pillows were flat and definitely needed replacing. The metal stripping between the bathroom and bedroom had popped up so we would catch the soles of our shoes on it. I was really surprised that the maids wouldn't have noticed and reported it. I let the staff know when we checked out.
The lobby was large, attractive and had a computer for internet access so we were able to check our email. There's also an indoor pool and jacuzzi, but we didn't use them. Staff were very pleasant and helpful, and recommended some local restaurants within walking distance. The hotel is also walking distance to the airport, or you can use the hotel shuttle. Overall our stay was ok, but if we ever return to Juneau I'd rather stay somewhere else for the money, especially if breakfast is included.
Note: See my review of the Best Western Grandma's Feather Bed where we spent 3 nights earlier in the trip.

Great place. Quiet, clean. Big rooms. Nice staff. If I were to visit Juneau again I'd stay here rather than downtown. This place is not that much more than the rundown hotels in downtown Juneau and SO MUCH nicer.

Upon missing our cruise ship in Anchorage due to airline problems, we had to stay in a couple of hotels in Alaska-one of them being the Juneau Travelodge. We were tired and frustrated, especially after flying all the way from Florida to Alaska. The airlines booked our hotels. After a horrific hotel experience in Anchorage, staying at this Travelodge was like staying at a five-star resort! The rooms were clean and large and the bathroom was modern and well kept. The courtesy van was extremely convenient and we found all the employees at the hotel to be friendly and helpful (especially Jack, the van driver, who went out of his way to ensure a very pleasant stay for all of us-twelve in all). The location was very convenient to the airport and not too far from the cruise port. The neighborhood seemed to be safe and very pleasant, and we found ourselves taking a walk outside late at night (it stays bright until very late) and it was quite scenic. Although the Travelodge is a budget-type hotel, this one is very impressive and I would definitely return there in the future!

The Travelodge Juneau is about a block from the Juneau International Airport. You can walk from the airport, easily, or if you rent a car take a left out of the rental car parking lot and the next right, and the Travelodge will be right in front of you at about 10 o'clock. The first thing I noticed when I walked into my room was how spacious it was, and that they had done an excellent job cleaning it and prepping for a new guest, more than I expected from a budget hotel. The second was how hot it was- there is no air conditioning. However, the room had two large windows on opposite sides of the room that opened, and a fan, and once I had a cross-current of air flowing through the room quickly cooled. The room had a nice tv, cable tv, free internet (wireless), a small built in desk, a small table, two chairs, a queen sized bed, two nightstands, 3 lamps, a refrigerator, an in-room safe, a vanity area, a coffee maker and complimentary coffee, complimentary shampoo and soaps, plentiful towels, lots of hangers in the closet and a nice bath. The showerhead was at about six feet in height. My only gripe at all was that the room stayed extremely warm unless both windows were open, and that the curtains didn't really block out light all that well.

There was a mexican restaurant in the hotel that served adequate food, and a bar that served better than adequate drinks. Across the street were several more restaurants, plus a mall, and down the street was a McDonalds and a Subway restaurant. Traffic is easy to negotiate even at peak times in this end of Juneau, and the Glacier is a quick drive up the hill.

I explored most of the Juneau area and found it to be Idyllic. I drove the Egan as far north as it goes and explored several beaches, drove as far south as it goes and hiked a really pretty trail at the end of the road. There were 5 cruise ships in downtown Juneau while I was there, and that made the downtown area a challenge to drive through and parking was non-existent. Downtown is definitely geared for pedestrians, and looked like a lot of fun. I also drove across the bridge to Douglas Island and drove up to the ski area and around on the coast.

  • Liked — All the amenities. Besides those listed about the room, the site also had a small pool and large hot tub.
  • Disliked — The lack of air conditioning. A little noisy being next to the airport, but not bad because there aren't that many flights.

We stayed at the Travel Lodge on our honeymoom 19 years ago and were excited about going back. I knew it wouldn't be the same after, almost, 20 years but I never expected to be so disappointed. The place was filthy and the service is unprofessional. When checking in I noticed the lobby floor and entry were dirty. I thought it was because of all the traffic. I know a lot of workers stay here when traveling too and from the mine camps. When we checked into our room the carpet was filthy and stained. The shower was terrible, the spray so weak couldn't even rinse off let alone rinse the soap out of my hair. I had to call the front desk and ask for more towels, they had left only 2, even though we checked in with 4 people. The front desk told me to find the maid on that floor and get "extra" towels. I found the maid a few doors down from our room, and noticed it was a nicer room, with a semi clean floor, so I called and asked to change rooms because of the dirty floor and weak shower pressure. This was at 8:30 in the morning. She said she would work in getting me a new room and call me back. We waited until 11:00 for her to call back and she never did. In the meanwhile, I was roaming the hall and noticed many empty rooms on our floor. I finally called the front desk and told her we had to leave the hotel because we had appointments we had to keep. She told us we would have to check out of the hotel and check back in at 3:00p.m. if we wanted a different room. I told her we couldn't come back because we had plans for the whole day and could'nt we move down the hall to one of the many empyt rooms?. She said she had paying customers who had reserved those rooms with credit cards and couln't fill them. I wondered what our reservations meant, which we had made weeks in advance with a credit card. So I finally relented (we had appointments we couldn't miss) and said we would keep the room if they would clean the carpet and change the shower head which she aggreed to do. We came back to the room and did find the carpet had been vacumed, the stains were still there, and the shower pressure was better, (although the spray came out in a big circle and made it impossible to rinse your hair) but the beds werent made! I have never had to make our own beds at a hotel before. This was a first. The next day our coffee pot wasn't set up with all the condiments, and the third day they didn't even vacume! When packing to leave, my husband was going through the dresser to make sure we had everything and found a pile of mouse droppings! We also tried the restaurant down stairs, the Mi Casa, it was really terrible. Wasn't even close to authentic Mexican food. I called for breakfast one morning and they said it would take 15-20 minutes. We waited 40 minutes and when they showed up the food was cold and really bad. This place is a real dump.

  • Liked — close to good shopping and airport
