Room facing harbor was fine, great view from 4th floor. Service was OK, manager helpful about giving us ride to private boat harbor. Dinner in Zen (?) restaurant was excellent (black cod)! Handy location to downtown- easy walk to museum, stores, restautants etc.

Very pleasurable experience with courteous and helpful staff. Restaurant was closed for a private group so unable to evaluate. Rooms had double beds instead of queens so plan accordingly. Otherwise, clean rooms, allowed early check-in and late check-out, stored baggage, and had free 24-hour airport shuttle. Very accomodating.

Despite its prime downtown location and price, the Goldbelt fails to deliver fully with a consistent, high-quality performance. The property is showing its age, although the rooms are relatively clean and functional.

With one or two notable exceptions, we perceived an air of indifference from front desk staff. After walking up to our room at the end of a long day, our “key cards” did not work and we had to go back to the front desk to have them re-done. We did not receive as much as an apology or sympathetic smile from the front desk clerk (who still didn’t manage to get our key cards properly configured). This happened on two consecutive nights! We were frankly astounded by the indifference the clerk displayed. Maybe the cruise lines are keeping the hotel busy enough with their captive audience. Whatever the reason, this conduct was inexcusable.

On the bright side, front office manager David Hays was a real bright spot. He worked hard to help, whether it was handling luggage, airport transportation or helping with the key card issue. Notwithstanding David’s friendliness and excellent efforts, we are unlikely to stay again at the Goldbelt, unless we have good reason to believe that things have changed drastically.

The home base of America West Tours, seemed like reason enough to stay at the Goldbelt. We came in early by two days due a change in cruise date, and an error on my part, and I considered taking a slightly cheaper place to stay, but I am glad I did not. Certainly, it is not an attractive place with little other than some native art to beautify it. We were able to reserve a harbor front room on the 7th floor with a king bed and it was comfortable enough with the view of the cruise ships,etc. It is located very well for walking around town especially the commercial portions. The other points of interest such as the State House, and Governer's Mansion are not far, but definitely up-hill. We did not try the restaurant, but the lounge was OK. It was a real plus to have free access to the computer in the lobby, and the staff were all very pleasant and helpful.
