We live in Florida and love to travel to Alaska in our RV for the summer. This summer we left the RV on the mainland and took the Alaska Marine Hwy to Kodiak Island for a few days. It was our wonderful luck to get reservations at the Eider House. What a wonderful and warm family! Robin made us feel like part of their family. We loved meeting her, her husband and their two daughters. It was one of those perfect situations with two other couples staying there who were as enthralled with the Eider House as we were. Robin was the perfect hostess, telling us all the insider things to see and do on the Island. When one of the couples had a problem with their rental car, it was Robin to the rescue. And one of the ladies was in a wheelchair and unable to get on the plane for the inland trip to see the bears. Again Robin stepped in and entertained the lady for the afternoon while the others took the flight. We found the accommodations at the Eider House to be very comfortable; each room is very private and has a unique decor. The breakfasts were excellent and one morning we had a special treat of salmon which they had caught and smoked. The Eider House is located on a river and the grounds and their horses are beautiful. It was a perfect vacation and we hope to go back some day!
