We stayed here the night before my husband and youngest son were doing a dive and what a lovely place to spend 24 hours.
The hotel has a dive school and it is where you can dive in clear waters - unlike around Dubai where you can hardly see your hand in front of your face. We decided to stay the night before and had a pleasant drive form Dubai. From the moment we pulled up to the doors the service was immaculate. The car was whisked away, luggage picked up and within minuted we were in our rooms.
The rooms are a great size with lots of hanging space and lovely bathrooms - shower (powerful) doesn't leak onto the floor (a big problem in some hotels we have been to), bathrobes, good toiletries and a big bath tub. The views from the balcony over the gulf of oman were gorgeous. And - heaven - a decent hairdryer set up in front of a decent mirror. Mini bar well stocked, huge comfortable bed, light and bright airy room and complimentary fruit and snacks.
There are many restaurants to choose from for dinner and we chose to eat at the outside bar near the dive school. It far surpassed our expectations. The food was beautifully presented and extremely tasty. Our starters were all great and main courses - chicken sandwich, steak, salmon were top notch. It was extremely hot but bearable and the waves crashing onto the beach feet away from where we were sitting made for a superb evening.
There was only one minus point - the beach has tar on it but the hotel has numerous signs and there are cleaning areas. The hotel is coping as well as can be expected and it is a shame because the beach is beautiful. My son seemed to be oblivious to the signs and went for a run only to find his trainers covered in tar. He tried to clean them - and ended up with a very dirty bathroom. A call to housekeeping saw the bathroom put back to its pristine state and the trainers taken away and cleaned. I couldn't ask for better service.
There are activities going on through the day but I chose to sit by the lovely pool - plenty of room for everyone. There are also loungers on the beach (away from the tar!)
Lifeguards are around all the time and are needed because from our balcony we did see some strange rip tide currents, the beach was closed after this. We were impressed with the level of care.
Well done to Le Meridien for your lovely staff and making our stay so pleasant. We will most certainly be coming back and spreading the word to friends.
