I have been diving approximately 25 years and have traveled well in the Caribbean. I only recently within the past 7 years started exploring the South Pacific. I have known about Yap much longer than I have known of Palau, but until 2011 had bypassed the little island of Yap to head to the Majestic Palau.
A very good friend of mine suggested that I take my families to Yap to Manta Ray Bay Resort. I must say I was very pleasantly surprised all the way around.
Complete dive equipment rental, free NITROX, full service photo center
Small boats, plenty of tanks in good condition,
Valet service when it comes to diving. You bring your gear to the shop the first day and only see it on the boat. They rinse it, carry it, set it up and pack it daily for you if you. Any place you want to go and anything you want to do. Expert guides, very knowledgeable and extremely safe. You get up close and personal with Manta and sharks and they know just where and when to find them.
The Resort has a Spa, infinity pool, The Manta Ray Bistro, the Island's finest restaurant with a great view of the lagoon, is located on the main deck of the S/V Mnuw, a turn of the century South Seas Schooner that you will dine on for Breakfast on the main deck, lunch on the middle deck and dinner at the Crow’s Nest .
Guests also enjoy Manta Ray Bay’s very own micro brewed beer right on the property. I enjoyed the daily sunsets with a tropical drink in either the Nautical Weaver Bar located on the Bridge Deck of the Mnuw or in the Crow's Nest Bar located on the top deck under the mizzen mast. Kits enjoyed the firing of the real cannons off the main deck at 4pm. Stand back, they are loud.
A large half Imax screen was fantastic to show our daily adventure slide show. The island tour with the resort is fantastic, we went to a local village and enjoyed beach time, the Stone Money Bank and toured some of the WW1 relics. Diving was the highlight and I have detailed out the rooms below. I highly recommend this resort. I will go back again and again. It is a not to miss on your way to Palau or as a stopover and even the main event… Its just a long way to go so spend 2 weeks and take a week in Yap and head to Palau to stay with Sam’s Tours… but that will be another review;…
