we have just come back from a weeks stay and we found the place excellant the rooms spacious and clean the staff friendly and very helpful only down side was the lack of crockery in the resteraunt if you arrived after 8 for breakfast you had to go looking for cups knives and forks but it did not spoil the holiday and the food was great if you want o be waited on hand and foot do not go but if you dont mind having to fetch things yourself once in a while you will enjoy yourself we went with an open mind and had a fantastic time

We stayed at this hotel from 26/10/09-05/11/09.

The weather at this time of year is perfect, with beautiful sunny days which are not to hot, with a nice breexe to keep you cool.

The hotel check in was quick and we were given large inter connecting rooms 5301 + 5302. The only issue we had with the rooms was the fact they were on the 3rd floor and there is no lift. We were travelling with an 18 month old and the carrying of a pram, plus 18month old was a bit of a pain. The 2nd digit in your room number indicates the floor number so if you have any mobility issues its worth addressing this with reception when you are allocated a room.

The room were clean and large with 5302 having a large super king size bed, with a cot and 5301 having two single beds and a put up bed for the rest of our party. Both rooms had a colour tv with airconditioning and the TV had plenty of choice of channels.

For the first four days we were not left any water in our room, but this did change on day 5...maybe the maid sensed that a bigger tip would be left when we checked out!

The buffet in the main restaurant offered plenty of choice, the food for breakfast was good, luch I cant comment on as we never ate there, and evening meal was good. The only issue was service. This ruined the whole experience from having too wait for a knife and fork, to getting a drink. There are plenty of staff, but the way they are deployed needs to be addressed...to many tanding around looking for an opportunity to sell a trip, but actually not doing very much, and not enough clearing tables and serving drinks. As we suggested in our party those standing round trying to sell trips would be better utilised serving drinks and trying to sell at the same time, because they do nothing at the moment.

The high chairs were of a good standard, our 18 month old was never unwell. We did take our own antibacterial wipes to wipe down the table beforehand, to ensure it was clean, but they did appear to be fairly clean.

The Indian restaurant, we ate in once. There is a minimum spend of 100 egyptian £ per adult, the children were given Chicken and chips. The food and service was good, but I must warn that one of our party could not eat the vindaloo as this was too hot, to spicey! But taste is subjective. Would give this a 7/10 rating

We ate in the grill and to be honest this was a bit of a let down. (the grill is the pool snack bar at night). This serverd skewerd sea bass, chicken, lamb and squid which was bbq. The fish was the best, but the whole meal was nothing speacial. Give this a 5/10 rating.

For lunch we would eat in the pool snack bar, which serverd sald, chips, pizza, and kebabs and crepes. This was great as it was enough choice to tide you over til the evening meal.

The italian, I would highly recomend. There is no additional charge for the italian and too me the food was of a better standard to the indian. You are given choice of greek salad (?) or tomato and cheese salad, followed by soup, then lamb chops, and then desert. The was a singerr who played guitar whilst you ate, and the service was great. Would give this a 8/10 rating.

The romantic tent. This is a tent which is on the cliff edge overlooking the sea and the beach. We ate here once. I can not rate this higly enough. The food costs a minimum 300 egyptian £ per couple. The setting is amazing, as this is for you and your loved one only.It is a private dinning experince so you must book in advance. You have your own waiter for the evening and this ensures that the service is fantastic. The food was brilliant, to say there was too much is an understatement, the table was completly covered with the differrent salad starters, which by themselves would have been enough for any meal, but they are followed by soup, then a large mixed grill, then a large desert, with lots of carved fruit. To me this was the highlight of the week and if the opportunity presents itself you must take advantage. 10/10 rating. It was so good I was worried that I had signed for $300 or even £300 until check out!

The hotel pools are large and clean. They are still replacing the green felt with tiles, but they are on the final 1/5th so I would expect them to be finished in the next week or so. There are plenty of sun beds round the pool, the beach is a little harder to get a bed, as these tend to go first.

The hotel has one large slide and we had a day of trying to beat each others times using a stopwatch....8.2 secs is the record held by me. If anyone beats it let me know! Just a word of warning though, check the slide is empty yourself as on one occassion I hit a Russian who was going very slow down the slide after being told it was clear by the attendent!

The house reef is good, with a jetty to get across the coral. The flag was yellow the whole time we were there, but there was lots to sea, we even managed to see a lion fish!

The entertainment in the evening is very poor, we were in a group of 9 so didn't realyy bother us, but the shows are not up to much. Kids disco is pointless and only lasted 15 minutes!

Tummy upsets....I was ok, but 3 adults out of six did have a bad tummy at some point on the trip. We did use all preacations, like anti bacterial gel etc, the children were never unwell and we had kids of 8,4 and 18months, so maybe it is drink related?

There is nothing outide of the hotel in walking distance...so long as you are aware of this and are happy with pool+beach holidays, then this will be good for you!

Would we go again......YES! Loved it!

Just back from a weeks stay at the Dreams Beach Hotel and after reading other reviews before going was a bit disappointed with what we found.

The rooms were spacious with good air conditioning, however the towels were often missing and the tv channels were very limited.

The pools and beach were excellent and the snorkelling was fantastic. Best area to catch the sun is down near the Grill House and bar.

The food on the whole was great. We visited the Italian which was excellent and the Grill house in comparison was very poor with limited dishes and slow service. The main restaurant was exactly what you would expect from this size of hotel wish buffet style meals and plenty of choice although tables and cutlery were sometimes hard to find.

The bars were limited with a few good ones in the day at the pool and beach etc but after dark the main lobby bar was where everyone went and it did get very busy at times and with the air conditioning on all the time was pretty cold.

The main fault I can find with this hotel has to be the entertainment or lack of it. There was a local singer every night around 9pm however she did a few songs then required a half hour break. The next entertainment was not on until 10pm and was so amateurish it was beyond funny. This made the nights very long and boring.

The only trip we did was the snorkel trip to Tiran Island which was fantastic (through Thomas Cook). Lasted from 8-5 for £40 each including lunch and all snorkelling gear well worth the money.

All in all I love Egypt and would visit again in a flash but I will not be staying in this hotel due to the boredom when the sun goes down!

We would have to agree in the main with the review below by Dolce 0606.

The hotel and all the rooms are a bit tired and tatty looking. The rooms were kept clean though with fresh towels and bedding daily. Tipping the cleaner produced various towel creations. The missing plug in the bath seemed to be a ploy to get extra tips, we had two rooms both with a missing bath plug; the cleaner turned up with a “replacement” plug at both rooms.

The biggest disappointment was poolside. The pools were great but the surroundings were poor. There was building work going on, the entire poolside area is being tiled, should be finished by Christmas, but don’t worry they only work from 8am till 10pm, chiselling up concrete by hand and tiling. This work is fenced off so not all the poolside areas are available, which means there are no-where near enough sunbeds. People were getting up at 6 am to stick towels, books, flippers or anything they could find on sunbeds then going back to bed till dinner time. During our second week even the beaches ran out of sunbeds which caused a little friction. The sunbeds on the beach appear to be the ones which used to be poolside until they got too rusty, they are not very comfy, consequently the early risers got 2 mattresses to put on them, still they’d gone back to bed when we helped ourselves. If you’re going to buy a newspaper pay by the day, not by the week because you won’t get them all.

The Animation team who proved the entertainment were dreadful. One in particular was extremely annoying appending his time wandering around the pool whistling at people to get their attention for no reason. He was also a bit forward with the teenage girls I saw one slap him in the face. With daughters with us of 15 and 21 I did feel it necessary to growl at him to warn him off – for his own protection before one of my girls knocked him out. Fortunately the decision to get rid of him was made after we’d been there a week, and there was a marked improvement in the entertainment during the second week. The evening entertainment started a little earlier too, although I would suggest bringing plenty to read and taking the opportunity to get to know new people. We went to a “comedy night” during the first week which wasn’t only not funny it was just offensive. Maybe it improved after everyone walked out, no-one knows.

The food was OK, there was always plenty of it, not huge variation in availability and about half the people we met suffered some sort of stomach upset. You can use the Italian restaurant, but it’s an either/or deal with the menu, it’s not a free choice. The curry house is free choice from a menu – don’t pick the vindaloo unless you have an asbestos mouth, I’ve never tried to eat anything so hot in my life.

The bar can be busy. There are not enough staff or glasses at busy times. There are only two barmen and if one is collecting glasses that leaves one guy to handle a circular bar. The locally produced alcohol has very little alcohol, so the only drunks were the Russians who drank all their duty free in one go. Don’t be tempted to buy a labelled alcoholic drink from the bar, it cost £20 for 2 brandies, and that was for brandy which cost £8 a bottle at Aldi not Remy Martin.

Would I go again? No
Would I recommend a friend goes? No
Take plenty of things to do, books, ipod, after 2 weeks even Monopoly wouldn’t be out of the question.

This was a last minute battery re-charging trip for me and my husband. We read most of the reviews before we went but feel I have to add my own.

Airport - As the airport is so small the arrival process was swift and no hassle at all. The purchasing of the visa was a little strange as you paid for this on the coach after you left the airport. Our rep was a little abrupt when we paid for ours with Stirling which included some pound coins - apparently the Eyptian banks don't like coins!

Check in - We had one drop off then onto the Dreams Beach - 45 mins away. We had been given a registration form for the hotel in our welcome pack and completed this on the bus which made our check in process very speedy. There were cold drinks and towels available for us in the reception on arrival.

Room - The bell boy took us to our room and showed us how to turn on the TV?? Our bags joined us very quickly afterwards. The rooms were very nice, big and there was everything you wanted. The minibar consisted of two bottles of water. There were complimentary toiletries in the bathroom which were ok. The rooms were very clean and I'm very fussy about this. I would have used the bath if we had a plug! The towels were clean but in need of replacing which seemed to be the general theme around the hotel. It wasn't a new hotel so some things were getting a little tatty.

Pool - The music was very loud and not much variety of entertainment. The entertainment team were clearly not trained in water aerobics, stretching etc but they put on a good effort. The pool was clean and there was plenty of space for everyone. The sunbeds were snapped up very very early each day around the pool and on the beach. At 7.00-8.00 am most beds were reserved!

Entertainment - Entertainment was provided every night but as it was on so late 10.00 - 10.30 pm we never managed to stay up to see any. As there was nothing to do on an evening, no where to go except sit in the very small bar area (if you were lucky enough to get a seat) then passing time until the evenings entertainment was tedius.

Food - The buffet restaurant was fine. There was freshly prepared pasta, BBQ meats, joints etc. A lot of the food was quite bland tasing but edible. There was a choice of salad and lovely sweets including some nights freshly made crepes. The breakfasts were the best meal of the day which included chef cooking eggs how you want them, waffles, fruit, yoghurts, cereals and a hot selection. The only problem I thought with the restaurant was there wasn't enough staff to cope with the turnover of guests. Tables were left piled with plates and there was an absence of spoons! Near the pool was a lunch time service which consisted of pizza (generally cold), chips (lucky to get these), kebabs (very nice). If you wanted little luxuries such as icecream, BOTTLED WATER, Irish coffee, candy floss then these were EXTRA!. Drinks were generally served in very small plastic cups which meant regular visits to the bar. Drinks not really chilled and there was not much sign of ice cubes anywhere.

Beach/Sea - This was disappointing. There was coral along the coast line and therefore this stopped you getting into the sea. If you walked over the coral the lifeguard blowed his whistle at you. The only way to get into the sea was off the end of a long pier into an area which was used mainly by snorkellers. The beach was shingle with not many beds. There was a man who laid out your sunbed cushion and towel for you.

Temperature - Generally 30-35. Hottest part of the day was the morning 8-11. The evenings were really very nice and pleasant. Not too sticky or humid.

Rep - She was very nice but only visited mid morning which means you have to drag yourself away from the pool if you want to see her. We missed her welcome meeting but we were invited to a leaving meeting which furnished us with information you already know if you are a seasoned traveller.

I would suggest taking Euros or Egyptian Pounds - we were told to take Dollars but they didn't seem to like this too much. The Duty Free in the airport was priced in Dollars but they took any currency. By the way the Duty Free at the airport was very very poor. Ok for alcohol and cigarettes but nothing else in way of souvenirs.

Two weeks at the Dreams Beach would have been agony due to the lack of things to do and variety of food etc. I would rate the hotel as 3 star and probably wouldn't really recommend it unless you are going for 1 week just to relax.
