I travel 100% for my job and as such, I am in big cities all over the world. I have dined in the creme-de-la-creme of them all and I always judge them against Cafe Roka. Rod's restaurant is THE Gold Standard against which all others should be gauged.
It is THAT good.
Start with the mussels... go on to the lamb... then end up with any of the fantastic deserts... and there, my friend, you have a meal.
Why is it this good? Rod Kass, the owner (get it ROd KAss), maintains attention to every detail in the restaurant. If you are not having the best meal you have ever had, ask for Rod to come and make it right.... he will.
Did I mention that it is THAT good? It is.
Not bad for a sleepy little town in the middle of nowhere down on the Mexican border...
