I have eaten at Roka several times over many years, and it is always a treat. The food, service and ambiance are superb. Rod Kass, the owner and chef is talented and hard working, and he manages to put together and maintain a team that makes Cafe Roka worth going back to over and over. The comments about snobby treatment must be coming from people who wanted to be pampered at the expense of others, which Roka will not do.

We ate at Roka over twenty times while we lived in the area from 2000 to 2004, the food was always fantastic and the service normally was as well. What some reviews here call snobbish is probably what we felt...that they have high expectations for customers as well as themselves. They do everything they can to make your dinning experience fantastic and a good value, and ask in return that customers be on-time, and be reasonable about their need to turn over tables. It is a deal that I would recommend to anyone who likes to be at the receiving end of a brilliant chef's craft.

We have eaten at this restaurant before but this last trip was the "Best of the Best" We were seated on the top level, at an open window. It was like having a personal window to the world of Bisbee. We were the only diners on this level and it was quiet and private. The food was outstanding as usual. To our surprise, Rod personally served us our exquisite sea bass special and we had an opportunity to tell how much we loved his creative offerings. His squeeze was called to help out when a server went home sick and she took care of all our needs. We shared some lively and interesting conversations with her as we devoured our dinner.

We tried to dine at the Cafe Roka...again (this is the third attempt, we have actually only made it to a table once.) I have taken a vow to never try again! I love Bisbee, there isn't a cooler town on the planet, Cafe Roka simply does not fit in. As soon as you step in the door, it's like a whole new world. You go from friendly town to snob fest in lest than 1 second. Trust me when I say that the food is not worth the attitude that waits for you at the front door! On our last visit (July 20th) we arrived in the downtown area early so that we could look through the galleries before dinner. To our surprise, a monsoon storm rolled in out of nowhere and it started to pour. We headed straight to Cafe Roka to get out of the rain. That's when our night started to go down hill. Becuase we were 30 minutes early they would not seat us, they wouldn't even let us wait at the bar. Now, if it had been busy in there I would have understood it, but the place was only about 50% occupied! To top it off, they had a small band set up in the waiting area, so our only choice was to go wait outside in the pouring rain! The hostess showed no mercy...she didn't care!
