The concept is great. Urban apartment for a long stay with all amenities. The location is good, not far from the hotel. I stayed at the Nichol, part of Urban Hip but may be better situated than the Ashanti. Rooms are good. I would have liked a TV in the bedroom but minor inconvenience in the living room. Would have been a great place for two or three persons. Very spacious. I was there in winter, and there is no heat... not comfortable at nights. But complete kitchen and amenities, bedroom and bathroom...a proper one bedroom....nothing to complain about. Price is high, as is everything in South Africa. But staff and service are woeful. I mean this was beneath ridiculous. Cannot find anyone at the desk. No information provided. No help whatsoever. Worse I have ever seen. They seem to have received no training or have no concept of customer service. Also, don't expect a taxi driver to know this place. Get an address for a GPS. If you are traveling with other folks, or even with a kid and want one room, this is great if you can put up with the poor customer service. At least you can cook your own meals and self cater.
