During April 2011 I went to a conference at Ogilvy's Conference Centre in Midrand and decided to stay at the Ogilvy's Lodge as well. On my arrival, the reception lady showed me to my room. The room were very nice with aircon, heater, DSTV, kettle, safe, etc. The new manager of Ogilvy's, Paul, asked if he could help me with my bags and we had a long conversation. He told me that the land owner took back Ogilvy's during March 2011 and he was appointed as the new manager.
On the second day of the conference we were placed in another conference room, as the conference rooms were being painted and newly carpeted. The one that we were placed in (they have 6 conference rooms) were very professionally laid out and neat. I saw signs that Ogilvy's are under new management.
I usually stay at the City Lodge, and I can say that the rooms at Ogilvy's are on par with those rooms, only with a more homely feel. It felt as if you are away from the city, with lots of big trees, birds, koi fish etc. I found Ogilvy's very convenient as they have 38 rooms, 6 conference facilities and a restaurant, all on the same premisses.
In my room there were no remote for the TV. I reported this to the reception and a new remote were placed into the room the next morning, aparently people steal tv remotes often. I asked the manager about the false advertising on the website. He reported that the previous people did put misleading info on the website, but they cut that website and are busy developing a new website with accurate info. Their e-mail address also changed, it is now firstname.lastname@example.org .
I feel that people must give Ogilvy's a second chance, as they are working very hard to upgrade the premisses and better the services.
Feel free to give them a chance.
