Its a hotel with a definite 'boutique' ..(i.e. small) feel to it. Arriving on a Sunday gave me the impression there were about 3 staff who were multi-tasking as everything - reception, driver, waiter, porter, cook...etc. Fine if there are only one or two guests, but otherwise easily stretched too thin. And the solitary restaurant closed too early to get dinner. Laundry service was prompt but inaccurate - I got someone else's clothes (along with mine) 3 times, and once laundry arrived without ironing. Having said that, the rest of my experience was very pleasant. The staff in all departments were very polite and helpful, so that's always a plus. The hotel is nicely done though a little isolated as a shuttle is needed for every trip. The highway proximity was not an issue for me at all - never noticed it or any noise. But I prefer being in easy walking distance of shops or entertainment - if needed. Room and F&B pricing was very reasonable, so no complaints there. I could stay there again if I wanted a quiet visit to Pretoria.

Good day JukeGuy, thank you for taking the time to write us a thorough review. Your concerns have been noted and we wish to assure you that our hotel will be changing to a 24 hour operation, as per our grading requirements, in January 2015. This change will ensure that there is always enough staff on duty, at all times to provide the valuable service our guests require. I wish to apologise for the mix up in the laundry and failure to provide you with ironed clothing. This is definitely not the standard we pride ourselves in and is something I will address with my TEAM immediately. Once again I thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention as it provides valuable insight which will be put to good use. We do wish to welcome you back soon, and hope to impress you with a better service the next time around

It is such a rarity to find myself looking forward to staying in a hotel when on business. But the Menlyn is special. It's beautiful, comfortable, convenient and has a great restaurant. It's also friendly and affordable. It's gaining a wider reputation which is good for them as they have invested thought, creativity and money into the place. I just hope for me that it will be available when I come to Pretoria again.

I have stayed here a couple of times. And each time I enjoyed it immensely .
The rooms are large and beautifully decorated.
The architecture of the whole hotel is of outstanding quality. One would think that due to it close proximity to the highway they noise will bother you, but it is hardly noticeable.

The staff you hardly ever see, and I mean that in a good way.
Excellent location, close to everything in Pretoria. 1 min away from onramp to N1.

The restaurant at the hotel, black bamboo, is one of my favourites. Best fine dining in Pretoria.

This hotel has everything any good review needs - clean, friendly, efficient. This hotel, however, goes far beyond that.

5 stars all the way.

Room tip: Choose the rooms obove the restaurant. They are close to the lift that takes you to the parking and restaurant. Loved the fact that I can walk from my room and be in my car and going in 1 min.

Spent a very pleasant 4 nights here while visiting family in Pretoria. Room was beautifully designed and decorated with high timber ceiling. The highway being nearby proved not to be a noise problem at all. Included breakfast was just OKAY as the choices were very limited. Only gripe was that the restaurant and bar area closes at lunch time on a Sunday and doesn't reopen until the Monday, so impossible to entertain guests on a Sunday afternoon there.

Thank you for your review, its great to get such positive feedback!

Regarding your complaints; our restaurant is open on Sunday afternoons during which we offer our full restaurant serving. Sunday nights we only cater for our Hotel guests from our reduced menu but we can still accommodate private groups if requested.

Obviously there was a communication problem from our side, and for this I sincerely apologise. Be sure that all staff were made aware of your comments and I confirm that our restaurant are open to Hotel guests 7 days a week.

You will also be pleased to hear that our breakfast serving has been upgraded and expanded.

We hope to welcome you back soon.

The large room was clean and beautifully decorated with a modern twist. Such a lovely restaurant situated on the premises, more for the fine dining type of person. Staff were all friendly and helpful.
Pure class.

Room tip: Room 20 is quiet but also close to the restaurant
