The AtlanticView in Camps Bay, Cape Town is a stunning property sat at the top of the hill in Camps Bay, right under Table Mountain. My partner and I stayed there for 3 nights upgrading to a suite when we arrived as a treat. It was worth the extra! A beautiful looking and very tasty buffet breakfast was delivered which kept us away from cooked foods after 3 weeks of travelling. Each morning started with relaxing on the wooden decked area, next to the infinity pool, over looking Camps Bay and the sea. The staff were very friendly, recommending some great restaurants and sorting out the reservations (Paranga on the sea front was excellent as was Savoy Cabbage in Cape Town). We found the use of the Mercedes A class very reasonable and welcome after using the ropey taxis of Cape Town. It might be advisable to have a car if staying here as it is a windy 30 minute walk down the hill to the sea front and bars.

We will certainly stay again on our next visit to cape town.

Well - we, especially me, are pretty fussy about where we stay. So much so that we did not book our stays in advance. We were fortunate in that SA was quiet at the time. However, after some disappointing previews of other guest houses, for some reason, Atlanticview was our last choice.

On arrival. we were greeted by Greg, one of the owners, who made us feel immediatly welcome, he is justifiaby very proud of his "hobby"!
Then we were shown arond and given the option of two rooms - we took a suite - glad we did so as it really was spectacular, with everything we could need. As in previous reviews, views are stunning, especially with sundowners and canapes, watching the sunset! Also, I am not one for small talk, however, Greg was an excellent host and we felt like it was a gathering of friends after chatting with other guests - very unlike me to actually enjoy doing this!

We were guided as to where to eat and we were not disappointed - we went to a new italian place, however, we cannot remember the name of it! Again, I am not great with itakian food, however, this was really great tasting food.

On our return, our bed was covered in rose petals and a bottle of champagne was waiting for us! We felt like youngsters (we are 25 years married!) and it was just a treat.

Anyway, no compalints at all - everything is wonderfull in the guesthouse, views, decor, design, cleanliness and staff.

Don`t think twice, just go!

  • Liked — Professional and welcoming staff and fantastic design.
  • Disliked — Nothi - except having to leave due to prepaid accommodation.

We had a fabulous holiday in South Africa and staying at Atlantic View in Camps Bay was one of the highlights. The view was stunning and the hotel was everything we could have expected. It is located conveniently close to the cable car for table mountain and is set back up the hill from Camps Bay beach. We thought Camps Bay was the best location in Cape Town and was not as developed as the other resorts.
The resturants in Camps Bay were very good and easy to get to by taxi provided by the hotel or private car.
The staff were friendly and attentive and we would not hesitate to stop here again should we visit South Africa.

Atlantic View is by far one of the best guesthouses we have ever stayed in, and we are frequent travelers. While the room was pricey, we found it to be worth every penny (although saying it was a bargain would be pushing it).

The staff is very accommodating and personable. When I see random criticism on here about the attitude of the staff, it makes me laugh because although there is a ring of truth to it, it is part of what we loved about the place. They do not have that deferential, subservient manner of staff in some nice hotels, and we found this refreshing. They are real people and actually interesting to talk to and have a drink with. Most importantly, you can thoroughly trust their opinion on where to eat, shop, go, and how to get there, etc. because they really know and love the city.

The views are incredible! The rooms are very spacious and clean. Nice workout center where you can burn off the delicious breakfast muffins and nightly cocktails served on the balcony overlooking the Atlantic.

Great place for the discerning traveler who likes their hotels to have personality. Skip it if you want to be waited on hand and foot by a bunch of uniformed drones. If that's what you want, stay at cape Grace, which is gorgeous but generic.

Atlantic view was recommended to me by a discerning work colleague and once I looked at the web site it was simply a case of which room to go for - we went for The Rock Room which was great - full of character and very unusual. The views, service and atmosphere overall was outstanding and the management and staff could not do enough for you - their restaurant recommendations for Capetown and the wine area were excellent. A fabulous place for a week away from the UK - we stayed 4 days here and 3 in Franschoek, wish we had stayed a bit longer.
