We (wife, toddler and myself) needed a hotel for an overnight stay and we contacted several hotels by telephone and the prices were just unbelievabley high for a last minute booking and considering that Nov 11 is just barely into high season-there are a lot of empty rooms around but no one seems to be budging on price. Anyway back to this hotel and on this night is quite full due to conferences in Cape Town but the price we were quoted was exactly half of any of the competition. What a nice surprise!!
The location of the hotel is stunning. It overlooks the working harbour and the mountain. Many more expensive hotels offer far less of a view than this!!
Okay we were not expecting 5 star but we wanted to be comfortable and clean- and this hotel delivered.
We were offered a non smoking room and despite smelling of air freshner, the beds were very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was clean and everything was inoffensive. The sliding doors offer nice juliet balcony access and when closed they mute the sound of traffic.
We paid eight hundred odd rand for a room with double queen beds but we declined breakfast options because at eighty rand a head for full english breakfast it was a bit steep. Coffee making facilities are provided in room. There is room service and it's reasonably priced and I couldn't find any vending machines on the 2nd floor - even though these were advertised.
This hotel must be the only brand name 4 star hotel in Cape Town which is under a thousand rands per night high season and it seemed very popular with businesspeople. It's close to all attractions and the waterfront (5 -10 mins by car)
If we had to stay a night or two and did not want to pay less for a Bed and breakfast or a Guest house- but wanted a proper branded hotel- This is our only option in Cape Town.
We would visit again.
