Travelled to Cape Town with my wife in late January with Virgin Airways having booked flight and first three nights hotel via Expedia.
What can I say - the place is fantastic. Scenicly stunning with a Table Mountain backdrop (and yes, the tablecloth is a sight to behold!). Superb sightseeing ... and despite pre-travel worries, felt very safe.
Victoria Junction hotel is in what you could say is 'an up and coming' area but still fine. Only about 10 minutes walk from the V&A Waterfront. We stayed in the large loft rooms which were comfortable and interesting and worth the supplement.
Hotel has a small outdoor pool - but it's quite out of the way and not obvioulsly noticeable - and it's a short walk across a car park/road.
Top tips: 1. eat out of the hotels - the cost is cheap, the quality phenominal and the experience is uusally first class.
2. Go up Table Mountain as soon as you can - the weather and cloud can change in an instant.
3. Robben Island - very popular location the tours book up in advance so if you are time limited you really do need to get in quick.
4. Hire a car and explore the surrounding areas - Stellenbosch, Franchoek and Cape of good Hope are all well worth investigating and are an easy drive from the city.
5. V&A Waterfront is a great tourist draw - lively, fun and safe.
Would I go back? In an instant!!!!!
