“Really enjoyable stay”

This hotel didn’t disappoint and was perhaps one of the best deals I found in Cape Town, considering the ridiculously cheap rate I found on an internet booking site. Located in a somewhat removed, but starting-to-gentrify part of town and almost within walking distance of the train station, the location, although requiring taxi after dark, was quiet, even with my room facing the street. Newly renovated but somewhat confused stylistically, with a mix of 60’s original vintage décor, some traditional furniture, and contemporary furnishings in the rooms, it never the less was spotless throughout.

The room bordered on luxurious, with a large comfortable bed (I must have been upgraded as I did see smaller rooms and had only booked a single), nice in-room cookie/coffee/tea service and a work space with outlets for different plugs built into the wall- no adaptors were needed. The room had built-in storage, a nifty folding luggage rack, cool lighting, LCD TV and effective drapes. The bath, with both a tub and shower was not spacious, but adequate, especially after visiting London prior. The full breakfast, which was included in my rate, was one of the best that I have had anywhere with an extensive cold buffet and custom hot dishes from the kitchen; the food was not only delicious but plentiful, and the service wonderful.

Issues: The fitness and pool areas were closed for remodeling during my stay which was disappointing, the front desk was not always as efficient or knowledgeable as I would have expected, once unable to get me a taxi and there were some glitches with the computers in the business center which caused me to go elsewhere to check email.

The hotel may be used by tours as one morning both the restaurant and the lobby were crowded and the streets in front filled with busses, but this proved no real inconvenience. I was very pleased overall and would book again in an instant. If you don’t mind being a bit out of the way, and don’t want to be in the waterfront area, this hotel really is ideal, especially if you can find a great rate.

The Townhouse is a lovely city centre hotel. It is reasonably well located, albeit in an area that some may be wary of after dark. Where it excells is in its customer service - the staff really do go the extra mile to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

The rooms are decorated in a modern style and some rooms have great views over Table Mountain and the Devils Peak. Although the rooms aren't enourmous they provide plenty of room if you just need a base from which to operate.

The restaurant is excellent, from the superb breakfast buffet through to the wonderful evening menu.

If you need a good base from which to explore Cape Town and the surrounding areas you can't go wrong with the Townhouse.

“A gem in the heart of Cape Town”

Townhouse Hotel

What a gem in the heart of Cape Town. We had a lovely room on the 10th floor with amazing views over Table Mountain. Large comfortable bed with clean linen every day. The hotel is spotlessly clean. All the staff at the hotel are brilliant - always charming, helpful and cheerful. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and the hot breakfast was cooked fresh to order and always delicious. We also ate several evenings in the hotel restaurant and there is a wide range of choices of inexpensively priced meals, together with a good selection of wines. The hotel can arrange tours for you and we went on a brilliant Tour of the Wineries around Stellanbosch, Paarl and Franschoek. The hotel has a floor in the next door multi-storey car park and you can park there very cheaply. The hotel is extending at present into the ground floor of the car park and so there is currently no swimming pool - so if you want one you will need to check whether it has been rebuilt yet! We would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay there again.

We walked down to the Waterfront during the day but when we visited in the evening we took a taxi - very cheap. We hired a car through Southafricar - agents for Europcar but much cheaper. We found the roads in and around Cape Town very pleasant to drive on - wide and well surfaced. Road signs are also plentiful and clear. From the hotel we did several day tours by car, each lasting around five hours and saw some wonderful scenery.

Used this hotel as our base for a weeks stay in Cape Town. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was lovely and comfortable.
The breakfast was great - a cooked breakfast prepared individually for you and a good way to fill up for a full day sight-seeing!!

I guess the location isn't great after dark - but I think that applies to most of Cape Town. However, a taxi to the Waterfront was only a few pound and the hotel always called one for us which arrived in minutes. During the day the area is fine and we felt totally safe walking around the local streets and shops - the Castle and a couple of good museums are only minutes away by foot.

The hotel is real value for money, a good location and I would definitely stay there again!!
