Spent four nights at the Mansion back in February and truly enjoyed our stay. The Winchester Mansions is a lovely small hotel, conveniently located with a great view over Sea Point, 10 min from the Waterfront with the shuttle, and just a taxiride away from the Cape´s beaches as well as many of the main sights. To our big surprise we were all (5 adults) upgraded to Sea facing Winchester suites, which consisted of a large bedroom with an en-suite bathroom (with walk-in shower and a big tub) and a separate lounge area. What a great surprise! There were also a complimentary bottle of chilled wine and fruit waiting for us in the room! Nice touch! Don´t know if the extra service was due to the fact that we were in SA celebrating my boyfriends parents silver wedding or if it was because the hotel, prior to our arrival, had made a double booking to Robben Island for us – and therefore charged my boyfriends creditcard twice! The money was refunded as soon as I informed the reception about the double booking, so it was nothing to fuss about.

As stated in previous reviews there was a very good variety of food available for breakfast, and it was a great way of starting the day – enjoying it in the lovely courtyard. My only criticism would be that the reception forgot to make breakfast-boxes for us, as promised, when we were going out Great White Cage-Diving early one morning. So ended up running around trying to gather some food in a box, while the transferbuss was waiting for us outside. A bit disappointing. We also got to enjoy Dinner at Harveys at Valentines Day. Didn´t have a reservation, but the staff still managed to squeeze us in. The food was great, even if the service was on the slow side. Also got to stop by Mama Africa and 5 Flies while in CA. I highly recommend both! Our last day in SA was spent relaxing by the pool. Not the biggest pool, but still a pool! The hotel even have a supply of sunscreen, cold drinks and fruit – also a very nice touch I think.

All in all I have to say that the Winchester Mansions is a well presented hotel in a fantastic city. SO if you get a good rate, you should go for it. I doubt you will regret it. We surely didn´t. Enjoy the beauty of SA!

We enjoyed a four night stay in one of the sea-facing suites at Winchester Mansions in early March 2008 and from the moment we arrived we enjoyed terrific service, mouth watering food and relaxing comfort. Prior to our arrival we had booked a taxi collection from the airport through the hotel which was well worth the small extra fee - our driver made us very welcome to Cape Town and enjoyed showing us the sites on our drive to the hotel. We ate in the beautiful Courtyard Restaurant on two nights which was simply delicious and inexpensive with wonderful service(if a little slow - my only tiny complaint). We were very sorry to leave Winchester Mansions and have recommended it to family and friends. We will without doubt make a return visit.

This was our third stay at the Winchester, and it was excellent as always. Our sea facing suite on the top floor had a balcony with great views. Staff were friendly and helpful, breakfasts were delicious. This hotel has a charming atmosphere!

W e had an enjoyable stay at Winchester Mansions and would consider staying again, if we return to Cape Town.
The hotel was comfortable and of a high standard. We stayed in a suite, which I would certainly recommend as it gave us more space and a seaview. It's position was ideal - close to the waterfront and Camps Bay.
The food was good, but the menu did not change during the 5 nights that we stayed. The staff were all extremely helpful and freindly.
