This is a Cape Town visitor must. The view is beyond spectacular. You can virtually see the curvature of the earth when you look to the south and envision Antarctica. I was able to spot whales from the heights here and with all the walking trails, I wished I had packed my own lunch. I could have easily spent all day up here. The trail is available up and down as well but are not for the meek. Had I not been time constrained I would have taken advantage of it and not just for the cost savings of taking the cable car. This place is wildlife abundant and it can be quite startling to happen upon a lizard consuming another lizard. The cable car ride is really enjoyable and at this writing I believe is the only one in the world that mechanically turns 360 degrees on its approach up and down providing you with all views coming and going.
Be advised; Wind, and weather can prevent your access to the Cable Car and the top, also general maintenance is conducted at certain times of the year. The classic Table Mountain "Table Cloth" Clouds that settles in can obscure all views and be problematic although visually stunning from the base...pick the right weather day for this attraction or it could be a great waste, Mother nature controls this site, not the ticket counter gal.
