I spent 2 weeks at the Malabia House in 2004 as part of a 2-month stay in Argentina. The Malabia House was far and away the nicest place I stayed during the trip. From the moment I got there, the staff was so helpful getting me settled, helping me get local currency, checking my email, and arranging for transportation.
The house is a beautiful serene setting in a hip part of the city, SoHo/Palermo. There are tons of excellent restaurants nearby, and the window shopping is great. For Americans, a top-notch meal including wine and dessert is extremely affordable due to the exchange rate. Every night the hotel staff gave great suggestions on where to eat and what to do.
The minimalist architecture, beautiful interiors, good breakfasts, and amazing staff made this is an amazing place to spend a couple of weeks. I tend to like smaller, boutique hotels with a lot of personality and found Malabia House to be just that. If I find myself heading to Buenos Aires again, I will definitely stay there.
