My wife and I have been wanting to stay at an Aloft and finally got the opportunity in Phoenix before flying out the next day. Hotel is very clean. Room is very modern, somewhat small, but it works well. Our room faced the airport so I got to watch planes land, which was pretty cool. Room was quiet and you didn't even know you were close to the airport. The clerk at the front desk was very helpful in directing us to a great place to eat. This hotel also offers a shuttle to/from the airport which was very convenient. Can't wait to stay at one of their other properties.

The rooms are exactly link the ones in the previous Aloft that I stayed in. They are clean and comfortable.

The real advantages of this property is that it is across from the airport and directly on the light rail line. We stayed here and attended an ASU football game. It was perfect. There is currently a bus system from the airport which drops people off across the street from the light rail station and this hotel. It appears that the airport has built some sort of tram that will take passengers in the future. I suggest checking the airport website about when that tram will be open.

One thing to know that I think is VERY IMPORTANT you do not want an odd numbered room that ends in x21 or below, because they get A LOT of direct sunlight. This means the room will be baking when you get into it and you will need to keep the curtains down and the air conditioner cranked up if you want to stay comfortable (read: dark and wind from air conditioning unit). Numbers 23-31 are not quite as bad, but still get some afternoon sun. On the flip side, odd numbered rooms have views of the airport (and Washington Blvd) if you brought your heat retardant suit or your x-ray glasses so you can see through the drawn blinds and your ear plugs. I am sure odd numbered rooms on the lower floors also have issues with street noise.

Tip: high floor, even numbered rooms = great stay

We stayed at the Aloft on two separate occasions during the same vacation, and both experiences were excellent. We were arriving into Phoenix to begin our Grand Canyon hiking adventure. We needed a place near the airport for the first night and the last night of our trip.

Service: Excellent on all accounts. The airport shuttle drivers (we had two different drivers) were patient, courteous, fast, and friendly. Aloft is lucky to have drivers like these two gentlemen, because they give the hotel an outstanding first impression. The front desk ladies were very patient with us and helpful. A gentleman in the staff was very helpful with recommendations for restaurants in the local area. The housekeeping staff did a great job as well. Maria, the breakfast cook, was also great.
-Sleep Quality: Very, very comfortable beds and quiet halls. The shades in the rooms completely shut out the Phoenix sun, making noon seem like midnight if you wanted it to.
-Location: Stone's throw from the airport, probably the closest hotel. Immediate area felt very safe. Hotel parking lot and perimeter felt very safe as well. There are limited choices within walking distance (Circle K and Ruby Tuesday's), but I noticed the lightrail literally across the street. We rented a vehicle (Avis provides courtesy pick up from their Sears location), so we weren't really concerned with local area amenities.
-Other: In the lobby, there is a bar, pool table, two computers available for internet and printing, and a food area with made-to-order hot breakfast options, Aloft-made fresh wraps and salads, snacks, etc. Pretty good variety considering its seemingly small size.

Overall, I'd recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a convenient location from the airport with reliably great service and cleanliness.

We missed a connecting flight in Phoenix and had to stay the night. We are Starwood members and spotted the Aloft and thought if we have to be here why not get some points. Had never stayed at an Aloft before and was totally impressed. Like a mini W hotel. Very nice, our room was spacious and very comfortable. Beds great. Staff was so friendly and very accomodating. We didnt have breakfast there but there is a cute little mini cafe. Minutes from airport. Great and easy place to stay.

While the Aloft definitely has a trendy vibe, it doesn't descend into kitsch and feels appropriate for guests of all ages, especially since the rooms are toned down and only have a few artistic touches to remind you of where you are staying. I do not know if I was simply lucky during that week, but I also never had issues with noisy twenty-somethings partying by the pool or in their rooms, which was surprising and much appreciated (I must also say that, despite its proximity to the airport, I wasn't disturbed by the occasional sound of a passing airplane; from my side of the hotel, those sounds were surprisingly muted). If you are a business traveler or someone who wants an option that's more unique than your typical chain of hotels, don't be put off by what you see: the Aloft may appear to be a "party hotel", but if you're not looking for something high-end it is a reasonable, attractive and, at least from my experiences, quiet alternative.

While the rooms themselves aren't particularly large, the lay-out is smart and comfortable. Desk space is small but enough to work from a laptop on, and the soft, spacious beds are quality. If I had to take issue with part of the room design, it would have to be the fact that a sliding mirror serves as the bathroom "door", and there is no option to lock it from the other side.

It's also worth noting that the Aloft is a short walk across the street from a major light rail and bus station, so you can easily travel to both the airport and see many of the major locations in downtown Phoenix without needing a vehicle to do so, assuming that you can handle some walking. Although Phoenix's public transportation system is relatively new compared to most major cities, its range is sufficient to get you around quite a bit of the area.
