Stayed there 2 nights in early February 2007 at the beginning of our Arizona vacation. We had an upstairs room which was reasonable refurbished. At the end of our trip we were given room 114 downstairs. It smelled sour...was moved to room 113. This room was poorly refurbished with some sort of painted over tape repairs on the bathroom wall. Hinges have paint runs and door handle plates have shoddy paint jobs.

Pluses.......
Good Location
Quiet
Nice Courtyard
Nice Pool
Aviary Enjoyable
Price $82 for 2 Queen Room upstairs
Front desk staff pleasant but appeared overworked

Minuses......
No internet (except for wireless)..no good for travellers without a laptop
Gassed out by smoking lounge near lobby
No microwave ovens...nowhere!
Breakfast rather slow...Went to JB's across street next day..much better.
No elevator
No inside corridors
$80 downstairs King Room worth $50

This is a very nice motel only 2 miles from Old Town Scottsdale. A pleasant small pool sits in the middle of a lovely courtyard - most rooms are pool view. We stayed here 4 nights and paid about $120 per night for a refurbished room with 2 queens, good TV, easy chair, free coffee and mini-fridge. Not fancy but extremely comfortable and the staff was excellent. It's not a "resort" but it's also not $300.00. I think they have a laundry and the restaurant serves a good, reasonably priced, breakfast. We will return.

I saw a few reviews and figured this hotel would be a pleasant surprise...it was not. The room looked like it was painted by a disgruntled summer high school student who missed a few spots (think college dorm) and the electrical system clearly has not been updated for nearly 30 years (I particularly liked the cable that was strung through the closet). Room furnishings were OK, but the bathroom fixtures work to the reverse (hot is cold and cold is hot). Front desk staff was very friendly. The hotel was survivable, but not someplace I'd return to again....and not sure where the term "resort" comes from.

“Been three years running”

Best Western Papago Inn & Resort

The two moaners need to double check they were actually staying at the BW Papago Inn. I have stayed here 3 years running: clean, great staff, considerate housekeepers, on-site laundry, great pool, internet connection that worked first time.

I honestly wouldnt stay anywhere else in Scottsdale. I have never seen a homeless person going through the dumpster. The parking area is lit at night.

Cheap and cheerful breakfast - all you need if you want to rest, have a coffee and a donut. If you wanted a full service 5* hotel - then go and book one - but this place is hard to beat.

My wife and I were traveling through the Phoenix area on our way to visit friends in Tubac. We wanted to stay in Scottsdale because one of our favorite restaurants (the Zinc Bistro) is located there. Looking through our AAA Tour Book, we found that many of the hotels in Scottsdale are very expensive and since we were only going to be there for a single evening we wanted to save money but still have a decent accomodation. The Papago Inn & Resort met the bill (although calling it a "resort" is a reach). In a nutshell, our room was clean, fairly large, quiet and comfortable, and reasonably priced. There is a restaurant on the site so is convenient for breakfast. The location has easy access to freeways so there is minimal delay in getting "back on the road."

    • Any tips/secrets for future travellers? — Be careful entering and exiting the parking lot because of the very busy street.
