Great staff, large rooms, clean, excellent golfing, fabulous pool - all in all - a wonderful stay. We had the pleasure of staying in one of the suites with a large (15' x 15') patio overlooking the pools and golf course - if you can swing one of these rooms - then I highly recommend it.

Fabulous stay 8/31 to 9/6. Can't say enough about how beautiful the views are from the hotel with surrounding mountains of scottsdale area. Hotel staff is very professional and pleasant. I agree, not the fastest, but they make it up with being friendly. This place has what I call "good Zen". You can arrive there stressed or tired and within a day feel totally relaxed. There is just SOMETHING about the location, the setting, the soft music everywhere, the tranquility, ---that just makes it special. We traveled last minute from the east coast and are used to nothing but the best hotels. While the rooms are plain, but adequate, the beauty of the grounds make up for it. The pools ARE great. Our kids, 7 and 9 had a fantastic time and met plenty of other kids. The clock tower with three story water slide makes the place for kids and dads of all ages. Plenty of things to do---or you can do nothing at all. The staff everywhere was terrific. Thruout labor day weekend they had different entertainment at night in a great lobby setting. They also had native american activities for kids including dancing for all to enjoy one afternoon. Kids made bead bracelets, learned about native american culture. Nice addition.
Spa was nice, but expensive. I found some of it to be more expensive than the Bellagio in Las Vegas but not as nice. MY daughter and I had a manicure and pedicure and spent $357----personally, wouldn't do it again. Didn't last. However, the ladies working the salon and spa are very nice, as are most employees. Found only one employee at front desk who wanted to charge me extra if I checked out after 1:00PM. That was a first anywhere I've ever stayed,-----I found it in poor taste considering he knew my flight was late that night, I had kids and they wanted to swim, and there was almost no one else staying on my entire floor by then,---in fact the hotel was at 24% occupancy after the holiday weekend. So I know they did not need the room immediately. I just found it in poor taste, especially after giving them quite a bit of business during our stay. While unpleasant momentarily, this incident did not dampen our mood nor did it change our opinion of the staff or the hotel. We'd return in a heartbeat and will be doing so in the future. Certainly nice enough to return.

Scottsdale has tons of restaurants and shops. You cannot be bored. Old Scottsdale is very quaint and filled with galleries and shops. Visit the Rusty Spur--old west saloon. Maggiano's restaurant in Scottsdale is as good as Carmine's in NYC.

Get to Sedona if you can or make arrangements to stay there one or two nights. It's a two hour drive from Hyatt in Scottsdale but easy to do and absolutely beautiful. You will be changed forever to drive through such vastness and then majestic red rock mountains in Sedona. We met people who visited and never left or went back home and returned to stay. That's just the kind of place it is. Very special.

So, don't hesitate to go if you haven't yet. It's an experience.

“Below Expectations for a Hyatt”

I stayed at this Hyatt in July of 2006 after reviewing hotels in the area on Expedia.com. After parking for free in the self-parking lot close to the main entrance of the hotel (very appreciative), I checked-in quickly and went to my pool-view room. The room itself was just mediocre for a 4.5 star hotel and the housekeeping was much to be desired. After the soap and shampoo in the shower were almost depleted, the housekeeper never left replacement toiletries and did not throw away empty wrappers when cleaning the room. Also, I ordered a hamburger with fries and a chocolate cake using room service and the quality of the food was poor for this caliber of a hotel. However, while the food was poor, the service was very good the first time I ordered room service. On a subsequent order, the room service people determined I had a outdated room service menu and offered to bring me an updated menu so I could order something for dinner; it took them 30 minutes (literally) just to bring me a menu! When the meal did come, it was again poor with just mediocre service. One excellent quality of the hotel was the exercise room adjacent to the spa; the exercise room had the latest LifeFitness equipment and was clean. I did take a look at the spa while I was there (without receiving any treatments) and it looked new, well-kept, and excellent. Given the choice of hotels in the area, I will try the Four Seasons next time. Note: I paid about $190 a night in July 2006 for a pool-view room with a $50 food/beverage credit per night (promotion).

my family of 4 recently stayed at this property. The property itself is gorgeous--- lobby/ lobby bar/ grounds/ pools are beautiful. the huge lobby at night with live music is striking with the mountains in the background. The only real issue was the check-in -- with the most inefficient and useless desk people i have ever encountered including so called management. To be brief: we had booked a club suite thru the hotel via phone (directly to hotel) after being told suite includes breakfast and a few other perks. Upon check in no mention was made of this being a club level so i said after getting my key that 'this is a club room right.?'. the response i got was a curt 'oh the club is closed until september' and the front desk person called the next in line!! anyway i eventually went to speak to 2 other people and an eventual manager b4 i got some recourse. i was told the club confirmation was only 'if available' but they would discount the rate somewhat. Also on my confirmation note it was stated wireless internet included- in the suite it said it was a 'nominal fee'--of 10 dollars a day on top of 300+per night-pretty ridiculous. Anyway front desk said my confirmation note of wireless internet was also only 'if available'??????? and i still dont understand what that means but the fee was eventually waived. Anyway a terrible start however the rest of the stay was very pleasant. great pool(s) which kids loved with a great 3 story indoor waterslide in the tower; great whirlpool, lots of small semi private pools. Hint go to back of pool complex there are free comfortable cabanas that are often empty- people dont realize they are there. with the resort fee of $12 a day - 'free ' bike rentals are included-- bike ride early! not the most kid friendly of trails for young kids-- mostly sidewalk but do have to cross some main streets. also free gondola rides with meals at the italian restaurant on site- meal good-not great- but atmosphere outside wonderful! also enjoyed breakfast--buffet during week of about 15 ( half price for kids) dollars was well worth it considering quality. Room was large, modern and very comfortable. Agree with others that near lobby can be loud although nice central location. Overall location is near many restaurants within short drive. A hint - there is a coldstone creamery ice cream office 5 minutes off of I-10 away that gives away free ice cream of your choice (flavor and size)2 fridays a month- its a scene and a wait but fun and almost a meal. Overall would stay here again happily although would likely try a different resort given quality of hotels in the area. For the pool complex itself for the kids i would return.

“Perfect Hyatt experience!”

Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort and Spa at Gainey Ranch

We had a magnificent stay at this location! Everything was wonderful and as we had anticipated and even better. The pool was why we stayed here and it is endless! Great location on a lake across from the golf course. Pool can get quite rambunctious, with lots of kids, but you can also use the adult only pool. Staff was very, very friendly, helpful and polite - even found a personal towel we had left behind and delivered it to us. Little personal touches showed that they were concerned about us. Entertainment was top-notch and played into a reasonable hour we felt, still plenty of time for sleep. Rooms are simple, yet elegant. We had a small personal balcony, very romantic. Fitness center is high tech with TV's for all aerobic machines and also weight training as well. Food is typically priced for a Hyatt and it is "High-it"! We usually like to frequent local restaurants nearby, so didn't use the in house dining.

We live only about 2 hours from the resort and could have stayed at any number of different places and we just loved this place. We would do it again in a heartbeat! Staff was great and made it just a perfect break for us!
