We decided to visit Sedona (4-5-06) on the spur of the moment when another tour we planned was canceled due to rain. Unfortunately, we were unable to check reviews before choosing a restaurant. Oaxaca is featured prominently in all the tourist guides and Sedona magazines. Our waiter had no personality, was not friendly, never smiled and seemed to dislike his job. The chips were cold and the salsa was so bad, even my husband didn't eat it. He generally eats all salsa's, but this one was not fresh and it had a terrible flavor. My husband loves Mexican food and only ate about 1/3 of the food (he had a taco and cheese enchiladas combo about $12.25). He said it was average and bland. I ordered beef flaunta and chicken Pollo Fundido combo (same price). The flaunta was overcooked with almost no taste. The chicken was more flavorful and would have been nice with a sauce over the top, instead of the dollop of sour cream. When I asked didn't it come with a sauce, the waiter said no. I just checked the website while writing this review and it should have come with melted cheese over it. The guacamole was very bland. The hot chocolate was watery. All and all the food was below average, but not terrible. The views from the window facing the Hwy was gorgeous and ALMOST worth the price of the meal.
I really think the only thing that keeps this restaurant in business is the tourist trade and that it is conveniently located to downtown Sedona shopping. Very easy to find but avoid this one.
